That air intake seems to make a pretty decent difference. More than i expected thats for sure. Nice to know. Can you feel that kind of difference? It looks like 16kw improvement at the top end and 8kw across the board at the lower end and at least 16Nm improvement in torque. Do you need the tune adjusted for the new intake?

definately notice the difference, especially at night. I was surprised at how much extra it made. I really want to go to the track again but next tnt is on 8 december

Now that you have thoughtfully provided some dyno proof that it actually helps i might get one, thanks mate!

Also, it looks like a 30-40Nm difference from the middle to the top of the powerband -- that's 22-29.5 lbs/ft torque, respectively.
I'm guessing this is rearwheel measurements in the dyno.
Hopefully, you or someone else can confirm if my calculations are correct.
Seems like too large of an improvement from an intake. But if it can be felt from the driver, then that's all that matters. And I'm sure it does feel more powerful at night with cooler air.

Sonny totally agree it seems pretty high for just a filter + intake improvement, but to be honest i have no reason to fudge the figures. My dyno figures are also low compared to others i believe, but this intake obviously works. The track will tell i guess

The track will help determine the difference also but these cars will learn and improve with time put on the tunes etc... Good luck at the track!!

I'm sorry if my post came across that way. I am highly suspicious of the dyno result but not you.
Air intakes shouldn't be able to add that much power on NA motors -- not on a dyno at least. Perhaps on a track with real cool weather. I will never believe that an air intake makes the same hp/tq on a dyno that it would on the road or track.
Your dyno results (the powerbands, hp and tq) look different than what is typically seen on modded C63's. The hp line looks very steep and linear (very impressive for racing), almost like it's made from a turbo or centrifugal blower. And the torque curve has a different curve to it than the usual C63.
I believe that dyno is yours. I'm thinking if the rpms were spread out further apart, perhaps the powerbands would look a little more flat and perhaps the torque line would be longer and more flat.
Also, it may be that your particular mod combination created distinct powerbands. It's all good either way. But, for a car that already has headers and tune, the car would have had to have been choking with the OEM intake setup to see this this kind of increase from an intake.
You already had an 11-sec car with headers and tune. If this increase is legit, your times will be solid mid-to-high 11's.
Good luck. And enjoy the intake.
Do you notice a difference in sound from this intake? Did it make the exhaust louder?
If this intake really provides significant gains as just a bolt on, there may be a few more hp/tq still to be untapped from a dyno tune. Just my thoughts.

This is the style intake I used at my recent track days.. I think it added something to the equation!! It made my car consistent due to bringing more cool fresh air into the motor.. I don't do dyno's but in real world conditions I think it works!

That's great to hear. Any drivability concerns with this intake?

Sonny, its all good i didnt take it offensively at all .
There is no noise difference at alll but this intake gets alot hotter then the stock pipes. I really think i may need that carbon bonnet to cool underbonnet temps

The carbon fiber hoods with vents like the one Dads is producing would be a great addition. My only question then would be whether a carbon fiber hood would change the seal around the openings to this intake.
I'm not familiar with how this intake seals with the hood. Maybe there would be no issues with the seal of this intake and a CF hood.
A real plus about the OEM C63 air induction openings is the seal with the hood. The only air coming into the induction openings is from the front of the car, outside of the hot engine bay. At least that's how it's supposed to work in theory.
Does the intake you installed seal itself well from the hot underhood temps?

the intake comes with some 3m sticky tape that you put onto the bonnet to help channel the air into the intake. All the air comes in from the grill. By changing the bonnet i honestly dont believe it will affect the path of the air that flows in.
And yep, the air is sealed pretty good, but the carbon pipes get hot really quick.

I finally figured out how to launch my car. My time below
60 1.817
330 5.059
1/8 7.719
mph 93.06
1000 9.995
1/4 11.906
mph 119.65
best mph was 121.78
i had many runs but i couldnt put any of them together. I wheelspun on that pass (i didnt do a burn out to heat the mickey ts), i also sustained an exhaust leak beforw going to the track after bottoming out at my parents place. On a couple of runs my car hit the limiter on the 1st to 2nd change.
My mods are:
Car graphic exhaust with headers, how ever with a 3in collector
bps tune
i have the factory filters back in
next mods are:
aftermarket air filters
carbon air box
mhp thermostat
mhp intake gasket
lsd diff
lighter pulley
i stopped doing burn outs to warm the tyres as 1 wheel only always spun
i can not wait for some much cooler weather and less humidity, those of u that would know, queensland is a very humid place
