Fronts screw on-off. The OEM ones are on very tight. The rear, I needed to pull hard to the point I was worried I was going to break something. Don't worry and you'll be fine if you yank hard.

BTW-My PDR hot glue solution is working very well on the rear pins. The "AMG" on one of the rear is not aligned @ 100% perfection and I cannot turn them and when I push the pin down and pull it up, it is still on very tight.

Will these pins fit 2010 E-63?

I was just wondering if they will fit the E class? I wouldn't think that they would be any difference.

Thanks

Same deal...I felt like I was going to break something.

So for those who have done this, how hard do you have to pull?

And for the fronts do they screw off or do you turn and pop them off?

Thanks guys!
I wrapped a small towel around mine, used pliers, and pulled and wiggled at the same time. They were in tight, but I didn't feel like anything was going to break when they came out.

Pliers and padding works perfect. My thumb was getting sore from all the pulling and twisting before I figured this out lol.

Man the rear pins are a pain in the *** get on. No matter how hard I pushed they would not seat securely. In the end I had to use crazy glue to get them to hold. It looks sweet now.

Yea, I gave up and just used some crazy glue (installed mine yesterday). I don't really think these are supposed to be pressed on all the way anyway; they are too countersunk otherwise.

I pressed one on all the way and it pulled into the door panel when locked. I pulled it off and reinstalled both rears with a full wrap of electrical tape and they look great. If they don't hold in place I will try the glue as well.

I put my fronts on with a little piece of tape as well as I didn't want to screw them all the way down and one went on further than the other. They seem secure for now and I don't think they will turn when operated. I was able to install them so they are even side to side.

I faced mine to read from the inside. I have tints and you can't read them from outside unless the window(s) are down.

^^ I did the exact same thing as you Mort, I like the way it sits (a bit higher) when locked. It's been fine so far with the tape, but I was thinking of the crazy glue thing... just not sure if it's a good idea when time will come to remove them??

I had a MB mechanic attempt to install mine today.

He got 3/4 on just right with no tape or glue. The passenger, rear door pin gave us some trouble. So we're going to get it right tomorrow.

I really like the way the new AMG pins look.

Looking at the inside of the OE rear pins, it seems like there's some kind of plastic/glue stripping (very minimal) that could either be a touch of factory glue or maybe just the OE pins peeling from removal.

I just thought I would mention this because perhaps the rear pins are meant to have a touch of glue inside of them.

Thanks.

I read through that thread and it seems like the installation process is far more involved than I will be able to do, even with the help of a MB mechanic.

But, it does help to know that to pull the door panel off, you unscrew the torx bolts (we all know that) and then pull from the arm rest and the panel is supposed to pop off. I didn't know that and I hope it helps tomorrow.

Installed mine over the weekend and had the exact same problem as you did with the rear passenger pin. Got the fronts and driver side rear pins on in less than 15 minutes but couldn't, for the life of me, get the passenger rear one to stay locked in even after the "double-pop." Tried wrapping some tape on the threads but it still didn't do the trick. Will give the glue or epoxy a try later this week.

And yes, this mod is totally useless to some but for me, it's been a godsend considering I have to use a parking access card three or four times a day. These pins will save me a lot of pain in the future!

i don't regret this at all... i love them... not having to constantly get stabbed or blocked by that stock pins...

i noticed it again yesterday when i went to a drive up atm machine... it just made things a heck of a lot more comfortable...

No regret at all here. They look great and are a great replacement for the cheezy OEM ones. It takes a little bit of thinking to get the rear ones done versus the perfect fit of the front but it is no big deal.

I got all four of my pins installed. I didn't have to use any glue or tape.

The only pin that gave us some initial trouble was the passenger, rear door pin. But, we got that on today.

The heights of the pins when the door is locked/unlocked is pretty even, so I'm happy.

Overall, I really like the look. And I'm grateful TS pointed us in this direction.

OK, so what's the concensus? Will pulling the door panels in the rear allow me to get these things fully seated and secure or not? If not, I'll glue the GD things and be done with it.

Yes, pulling the door panels will allow you to fully seat and secure the pins. I had to have that done on my rear, passenger door panel... $65.00 later for about 8 minutes of work.
