So i can put Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D 235/40/18 Front/Rear on my OE wheels right? I just want to make sure it fit on OE wheels because i am getting it from Tirerack and install it by local shop. Thank a lot.

I don't think the 235 will fit on the OEM rear tire. I think that is not wide enough and the tire will be stretched a lot. But i'm not 100% sure. just thinking that.

As it turns out, TireRack does in fact have a few winter packages based on 18" wheels for the C63. You just have to make sure and select winter packages, not just wheels by themselves. I ended up going with an 18x8 MSW wheel with Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3Ds.
Having a package put together by TR gives more confidence that everything will fit.

H = 130 mph max speed
T = 118 mph max speed
You really should have a W = 168 mph rating or if the speed limiter has been raised/removed a Y = 186 mph rating.

how much do they suck with normal driving?
lots of reviews about how much better performance snows do in the white stuff compared to A/S but not much talk about the penalty, especially poignant for those of us that don't get a ton of snow (but need something competent on a high-hp RWD car for when it does)

I'm more concerned about safety over performance handling in the winter ...
I went 225s because I am expecting to need to replace these tires every seasons ...
Its very smooth quiet tire ... quiter and softer than my balding summers ...
Hankook Icebear W300 - it does compromise some winter grip .. but overall its fine for winter and great for dry cold ... My commute to work is 6km a day so its been great so far ...
Today was the first day in snow - normal roads its fine - stops great .. however, the "go" side you have to use some common sense, traction does kick in time to time .. but overall its perfectly fine for heavy winter (10cm of snow today) ...
Mind you, I've always had RWD vehicles for winter it is what I expected it to be (first winter in my 63)

Those w300s are awesome on the cold dry days, actually offers really good dry performance. Of course I destroyed my rears after 1 single winter haha. I'm running the stock size on stock wheels. 40km a day to and from work, first day of snow, outran all the silly SUVs on all seasons.

My winter tires are: Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
I'm relying on my New England upbringing and driving experience to get me through the Mid Atlantic winter.

Here is a question I don't believe has been covered yet in this thread: when do you put your winter tires on? I know answers will vary based on each individual's region of the world or region of the country. I seemed to recall reading in a number of places that winter tires are designed to perform at their best when utilized below 45 degrees F. Right now in Virginia, temps are dipping into the thirties at night, but during the day temperatures tend to fluxuate between high forties low fifties and have pushed into the sixties this week when a warm front pushed through.
My plan is to mount my snow tires on my stock rims (already have the tires -Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D, staggered to match the stock set of rims) once the temperatures are consistently in the 35 to 45 degree range throughout the day. I am figuring this will be sometime in December. I am afraid that if I mount the winter tires too early with the fluctuating temperatures of November, they will be prone to wear out much more quickly. The logic behind this is grounded in my belief (I may be misinformed) that winter tires are made with softer rubber that is intended to give you flexibility when temperatures drop so that the tires don't "freeze" so-to-speak and become too hard, thereby causing you to lose traction more easily. Therefore, by driving the winter tires in temps about 45 F, my thinking was that the soft rubber would wear down very quickly.
Any input as to the validity of this?

Big mistake is a staggered fitment. You need the 235's on the rear. Wider tires just don't dig in. I ran mine 2900 miles last winter and used approx. 30% of the rears. Rear of the car is constantly covered with rubber dust. You do miss the grip accelerating,though braking performance isn't bad. The car slides around much more but very controlled on the twisty roads. (Car was completely debadged-see top pic)

I use 4 235/40R18's Dunlop Winter Sport 3D's on Rial wheels w/TPMS from the tire rack.($1800 shipped)Its a major pain in the *** to mount and dismount snows IMO-Tirerack package is on the money-offset and backspace is perfect and they don't look that bad IMO. No problems-you'd be surprised how well the car handles in the snow. I don't purposely go out looking for bad weather-but catching even the slightest amount of winter conditions with P-zero's is a really good way to end up on the flatbed.

I am having a hard time choosing between Rial and MSW Type 12 (Machined w/Black Accent)
Does anybody have a pic of MSW Type 12 mounted on a c63?

Arclight338, you should purchase MB star center caps for those rims and replace the aftermarket caps. If it weren't for those caps, I would have thought they were stock MB rims (although an older style of course).
