Sooo...no reason to move to a newer model. No MCT, everyone around here has a cheap tune for that amount of power, and add turbo lag. For what, some more torque and a locked up ecu. Cool

I think for those that want to take the journey, the next C63 is going to be a horsepower mecca.

New turbos, cams, valves/springs, injectors, exhaust, intake, and ECU (think stand alone engine management, MoTeC) I wouldn't be surprised to see C63's pushing 800+hp.

The article does not mention turbo at all and if the MCT is not happening then the 6.2 remaining is much more likely.

I think that none of you looked at the date of the article.

the 500hp C63 is already here. The P31.

The C63 will according to a source of mine (sounds mysterious but is reliable :P ) keep the 6.2 l engine until the end of year 2011. After that they will start producing the 5.5 into the C-class, but it is yet unknown whether or not it will be turbo charged. This info came from AMG.

I was thinking the same thing about the new engine, if it is the turbocharged model it will be easy to make power with. Locked ecm's well they will eventually figure a way around that they always do.

Kind of gonna suck for the 63's now with the amount of money being spent to gain 50-70hp now its just turn the boost up,fuel and timing and walla tune only 50-100hp maybe even more

Why would it suck for us 63 owners right now? This car is not lacking in power, it is lacking TRACTION! Whether it is 500 or 600, it's not going to make any difference if you're just spinning the wheels freely.

BTW...do you think that it's not going to cost you anythign to turn up the boost, fuel and timing for those new 5.5t engines?

+1
even if the new C can be tuned higher, who's to say the tranny will be able to handle it--I know MB won't be warranting that when it goes BOOM

We have heard AMG state that every single model will get the new motor by 2013.
Now knowing that the C would be the last car to get the new 5.5 motor.

It only makes sense to say that it;s highly likely that the 2013 C would have the new motor.

What I meant was that its gonna be easier to make the power current owners are are getting now, did not mean it in a bad way .

And no it is not gonna be free to tune those too, I hope you know what I meant otherwise your current state of "common sense" has left you.

To all C63 owners badass car and awesome that they are running in the low 11's aspirated.

Sorry if I sounded defensive. I just wanted to say that it's not as hard as you make it sound to extract the power from the 63 motor. With these cars, the power isn't the major issue here, it's the ability to put this power down to the ground.

Was reading an article in Mercedes Enthusiast magazine about the 5.5T motor in the S-class and CL-class, and AMG's CEO Volker Mornhinweg saying "So just as the G55 AMG 4x4 is currently the last hurrah for the supercharged M113 V8, the SLS will be the last AMG model to wave the flag for the M156 motor."

so the C63 will definitely be getting something newer but what? only AMG knows

One MB dealer in Poland said that facelifted version of the C63 will be available in March 2011. It will be equipped with new 5.5T engine.
