Yesterday I spoke with Nathan at C&C Autobody in Pasadena about painting and installing the CF hood. We might end up leaving the vents in CF as well as a long triangular strip up the angled portion of the hood, front to back, and painting the rest. Can't wait for this hood to get here and thanks again to Keith for making this awesome project a reality!

Thats gonna look awesome!!!

Just an update. The hood arrrived in China and its being held in customs. Apparently there is a problem with importing a "used" product and not a "new" one. Its hung up there but we are doing all we can to get it released. This is driving me nuts. Paid extra $$$ to air it there and now it sits in customs!!!!!
Just shoot me!!

I will let you know. Due to this delay you have another week or so. It is 50% up front and the balance when they arrive and ready to ship. Thank you for your consideration.

Hi Keith and every one,

I am Carl Lan, from the Stone Carbon in China.

As Keith said, the steel hood is held by the custom,
because the hood is approved the USED car parts by the custom here,
this caused some problems,
and recently the Asian Games is running in Guang Zhou city,
this add the difficult on it.

However all will be ok soon,
during the past days,
we have done nice communication with custom,
we will get the steel hood in several days and after we get it,
all of other works, such as mold making and carbon fiber hood will run smooth and fast.

And very sorry for the delay and inconvenience caused!

We will be much appreciated for your consideration!

Thank you!

Hi Carl,

Welcome to MBW boards! Good to hear from you again. I love my current hood but just had to have Dads design so I had to get this one as well. For those of us who have worked with you in the past we know that you will work things out and get things done. Look forward to the new hood and glad you are the manufacture that Dads has selected for this project.
PS - when we ship my hood, le's not use a Turkish freight forwarder this time...ok Dave

Hi Dave,

How are you?

And glad to see you here too!
Also thanks your help on this project!

I really hate the Turkish forwarder,
the shipment was almost a disaster...
Here we have some nice prices on air freight,
nice price performance and very fast shipment and convenient pick up,
maybe you are interested,
I will let you know it in time for your reference.

Best regards!

Good Morning,
Wanted to give Maverick and everyone an update on the new hood. Carl (Stone Carbon) now has the hood and is already working on the mold. We talked just this morning about some things. He said they would have the mold completed and ready within the next two weeks. Then it takes 10-14 days to produce the first hood for review. I am hoping to have the first hood complete before Christmas.

I will have that one shipped air to me here for final approval. Then production starts and that only takes a few days once we are ready to go. If you want to order one I will need to know for sure before Christmas and have the deposit then.

I for one am stoked about this and can't wait!!
THANK YOU again to all that ordered this hood!!

Keith

other stuff?
Thanks for the update Keith. Can you tell us about other products you may be working on?

I know an intake thats less than 1k and gives proven gains is on top of my wish list. It does not have to be carbon fiber.

Maybe seatback covers in C/F.... that would be cool.

I know some things are probably better kept quite untill ready to sell...but something to tease us with would be good.

Some good ideas. Especially the affordable intake.

Keith, this is getting very exciting. Can't wait until these hoods are ready. I'm sure you're plenty excited too.

Also, any chance on some C/F (lightweight) front and rear bumpers? Like "trapper" said, I understand if you're keeping quiet on your upcoming products.

Carl at Stone Carbon who is building the hoods already has produced a CF front bumper/lip combo. See here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Benz-...Q5fAccessories
On the rear and what might be possible, I leave that up to Keith.

Hey Guys,
The front bumpers can already be had by Stone Carbon and Revozport which is where I got mine. I'm not going to reinvent the wheel.

Intake, I have done my homework on this and I cannot produce anything for the price you are asking. Rotomolders are not cheap and engineering something and having someone else produce it is expensive also. I know it sucks but thats the facts.

Quite honestly I think Renntech has your best option. I know its pricey right now but there is a LOT of R&D that goes into these parts and they are worth it.

We have some other things in process and you already know about the cams but I will not say anything until something is tried and proven. More to come soon. In the mean time I will keep you updated.

Just to give you a quick update. It can be frustrating when you order something and then never hear about it for weeks and you begin to wonder if you should have bought it in the first place and will you ever get it. I want to keep you in the loop so you stay positive and know that its in process.

I spoke with Carl last night and they have the top portion of the mold completed. We worked on the underneath side and they came up with a good solution. They are making progress and I wanted to let you all know how its going. Thanks again to everyone that purchased this hood. Its gonna be awesome!! Can't wait!!

Definitely looking forward to it very much.

When you get something custom made from scratch, there's always going to be some delay. Seems that way at least. It's all good though.
