stupid parachute, very lucky he's alive--I would have liked to see what the car looked like after tumbling that many times.
I'm guessing there's no insurance for this?

Damn thats so crazy. I guess it goes to teach you that with all these things theres a major risk factor involved whenever your pushing the limits. Glad to see that the driver survived and was able to walk away.

Too bad for the Gallardo

Honestly I think it's totally lame that anyone would d that to a Lambo. For much less you could do it in a Vette. To turn a Lambo into a straight line car with a 'chute only shows the owners need for attention and ego boost.
On to the wreck....looks like the 'chute deployed correctly. Some have reported it got caught in the wheel but from the video it looks like it deployed properly but caused the car to steer hard right. This seems due to the chute not being long enough and being disrupted by the dirty air coming off the back of the Lambo and the reported high crosswinds. Many people don't understand that getting a car to go fast isn't difficult - slowing it down takes a very good driver with very steady hand/foot.

saw it in person, the wind definately hit the parachute and moved it sideways. There was a massive crosswind when he was running.

The stopping was definately difficult, good point!

I agree, however each to their own. I very much agree on the slowing down of a car, this is very difficult

There are a few Evos on the 220mph range. I would rather do it in a Evo and save a lot of money...
That is a $400000 hard lesson for that Lambo owner. Many of you might said: if he has a Lambo he must have a lot of money!! Well, probably no more Lambo for sure and probably no more 200MPH stunts for a while...

Driver's are far more likely to walk away from a spectacular crash like that with a lot of rolls and flying panels than the ones where the car hits something and basically stops. All the rolls and flying panels are the visible dissipation of the crash forces....glad they guy's okay, looks like there was a rollcage in there but not sure.

I wonder if he needed the shoot or if it was for dramatic effect? I would've thought carbon ceramic brakes and the car's areos would've sufficed to bring the car's speed down slowly, unless the run way was particularly short/unsuited to this type of run....

when I was there and saw it I was asking some of the vets about that.

So most of the guys who have parachutes (200mph +) pull them at the 3/4 mile as it will deploy by the mile.

So at approximately 200mph you have roughly 8 seconds to slow down to the turn, not a lot of time at all.

SW had issues with his as well on the supra that day...

Thx for the feedback, makes sense. SW's Supra is a monster. I wouldn't to be pushing 700whp+ on 1 mile run with this short of a runway
