Sighting: I think you missed my point.
Stock for stock: a GTR beats a 997TT (would be interesting to have an updated battle with the 2012 GTR and the new 997T PDK).
I never said you could not mod a 997TT to beat a Veyron or a modded GTR but if we are to compare modded cars, it should not be 1000hp vs 800hp vs 1500hp Ford GT.
I was there when the Ford GT ran the mile at 253mph in Miami. Truly amazing feat.
However it comes down to your wallet (The Ford guys admitted they have probably about 350K in the car). And that is my second point. You could get a C63, A P800 GTR, and a Ferrari California as a convertible for what it costs you to get a 9FF. Kudos again to Nissan to have built a car that can pretty much handle 800hp without costing you a house.
