Went with full straight pipe setup (took off my X pipe)
Ok i think ive experimented enough, with my exhaust and im gonna call it quits. I noticed today that with the X pipe, it sounded very clean and focused, but sort of lost that "AMG edge", i know 99.0% of the people here go with the X pipe setup but even though it sounded clean it didn't have that distinct AMG sound. So i went to the Exhaust shop today and requested i remove my x pipe and replace them with straight pipes.
So now my setup consists of straight pipes (resonators) & straight pipes (2ndary cats).
Warning: This setup is not for every one.
here are my impressions....
First thing i noticed when i got on the road was, how RAW the exhaust sounded. It sounds BRUTALLY RAW .....and I LOVE IT!!!
The downshifting has a bark of a rabid pit bull. The acceleration sounds like its going to tear down walls. And to be honest, the car feels faster now then with the X pipe. I know people are going to disagree with me on this one, but that's what it feels like.
Yes, there is very minor droning, but its hardly noticeable.
Overall, I am ecstatic . I found a sound that im happy with.
I will post up a video soon....

Its pretty friggin loud, haha. I will post up videos soon.
I really like the sound, gained all of its AMG characteristics again.
I tried to make a video today but ive been getting a few complaints from my neighbor. haha
Hahaha sonny looks like a pretty chill pit bull, You have a great dog.
I used to have a pit years ago. It was messing around with a poisonous snake, and got bitten near its nose, he didn't make it.

I got rid of my xpipe for the same reason. It is just personal preference, obviously a lot of people like it by the number of people that have one, but it just wasn't for me. Looks like I wasn't the only one.
Straight pipes at the resonator is definitely the next mod for me.
My understanding is that this is a relatively cheap mod? Any specific straight pipe you went with?

Thanks for the compliment on Sonny. He is a really cool dog.
I think it's great that you invested the time to find the exhaust sound for you.
I've thought about replacing the secondary cats with high flow cats and I think that would give me the sound that I am looking for.
Right now, with ROW air box tops, BMC filters, and no carbons, my car sounds slightly louder than with the stock air unit. So, I figure upping the sound a couple notches with the high flow cats would be perfect for me.
The one fear I would have would be drone. Right now, my car has virtually no drone. I would guess that following through with my idea would create more noticable drone.

That's a sad story. I would have been really broken up. I have two pits. They are both turning 12 (one, this month). Their health is declining, so I'm just enjoying them while they're still here.

My previous car droned like crazy, every time i had to go for a drive i needed a bottle of advil, so my head wouldn't explode. haha
