Talking Just drove with the back seats folded down...

First time I've done it--I usually have my daughters car seat in the back, in case it's a nice day and I want to pick her up.
Anyway, I'm getting ready to put the car away for winter and I took the car seat out and decided to take the car for a spin with the seats folded down.
What a major difference, especially at the higher RPMs
So much louder and you can hear so much more of the exhaust note!
Anyway, I just wanted to share my excitement and if there's anyone out there that hasn't done this yet, you've gotta try

Ever since I put those rear seats down to experiment I haven't put them back up, lol
I noticed it sounds best when all the windows are rolled up.

I've run with mine down now. It is a big difference and I am wondering why. It doesn't seem to me that having the seats up could "block" that much sound to the front of the cabin. Can any of you engineers explain?

Thats so funny that this thread was just started....I, after two years of ownership of this car, just drove with the back seats down for the first time this morning, I laughed out loud at the high RPMs. I just drove the SLS a month ago at the AMG performance tour in Mt. Tremblant Quebec and this sounded very close to it, the SLS BTW is a race car, it made sounds that I dreamed my car would make, but after this morning with those back seats down, I can live with this car a little while longer before I aquire the SLS.

case1906--I was wondering the same thing, how can the back seats muffle the sound that much.

1st amg--I haven't driven the SLS yet (plan to do an AMG event next year) so I can't comment on the comparison between the two, but it does sound crazy.
And I thought I was "late" trying it with the seat down, two years, wow
I don't feel so bad that it has only been a couple months
I figured most of the members had tried it, if you (reading this post) haven't, go now and do it
I'm going to miss this car over the cold snowy winter that approaches--damn New England weather!
Oh well, I guess I'll appreciate it more come spring!

+1 I had noticed it by accident. I need to drive the seats folded down more often.

The only thing that annoys me about driving with the seats down is if I put the windows down I get that really annoying sound pressure woob woob woob noise...

just crack the back windows a bit witht he sunroof open and it should eliminate that annoying sound
I haven't tried it yet, but that's what I usually do to elimate that noise other times it has happened.
I was driving with all of my windows up and it seemed to sound the best that way--I'll have to conduct more experiments!

Tilt it (lift up), will be fine.
