New Tires - Recommendations?

Hi,

Without spending a fortune on new tires (front and back), which tires do you recommend (i.e best bang for the buck)? Also, I don't track the car (yet).

Thanks,

Roy

If you haven't already do a search on here. Some good threads. My vote is for Continental Extreme Contact DW tires.

Hankook EVO 12. Great performance, great price , and long thread wear.
I got my rear set for $360 (275/35/18)

General Acclaim UHP's. Very underrated tire, and inexpensive too.

I have the same. 500 tread count. Not the best race tires but if you don't want to have to replace yours every 3 months then these are your best bet

Michelin PS2s are probably the best all round, on off tracks and daily use
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric are good bang for bucks but they wear out fast

Pilot Sport PS2s have a treadwear grade of 220, not 500. You likely have Sport A/S Plus (All-Seasons).

+1 on these.

If you just want summer tires, I like my Sumitomo HTR Z III's. I also had good luck with the Nitto NT555's

Dunlop Dirreza Star Specs........hands down the best dual purpose tires I have ever owned. My first set was used for 4 track weekends (3 on the rears) plus daily driving. They lasted about 5,000 miles through that abuse. My current set has 5,000 miles, the rears have 1 track weekend and look to have another 3,000 miles left the fronts look like new but are about 1,000 miles fresher.

Very important to note that if you want a tire for street use only but you push the car VERY hard through corners, the Star Specs reach the edge of the envelope and GRADUALLY give up grip. You know when you are there aand it is easy to control. With some tires it's now you have it: now you don't and lookout!

As an FYI - my hankooks v12 have proven a little scary in wet conditions - and though I'm more than a couple months removed from my OEM Pirelli's, I do not recall them being quite as slippery

I am running Pilot Sport A/S plus on mine and like them. Only tire that fits our car with a 45,000 mile warranty that I know of, which is a big plus for the rears!!

^^ just ordered the pilot sport A/S and they are on a nation wide backorder. $460 for a rear set but its a damn good tire and wear should far exceed my OEM continentals....

Best bang for buck is the hankook evo, let me know if you need any pricing on any tire out there.

We also offer mounting and balancing services

Sounds like they have gone up some!! Still a very nice tire and the warranty will be very helpful on this car I think....
