I doubt I'll ever go the skinny route. Wouldn't make much sense for me up here. Our tracks are stupid-strict. If you run 11.499 or lower without a roll-bar you get booted and they have a very good memory.

As far as the other weight-reduction mods, I'm following in your (and Mike's) footsteps by having my C/F hood and trunk installed Saturday.

Same here except on private rentals!! I'm happy to here you are Sheding weight! I'm getting some light weight wheels made and will run with those all around they will most likely be done for the spring season so we will see what these skinnies do. I actually think a set of light weight wheels would do the same!

Not sure how much is "A HUGE difference"? mthis ran his car with only headers + tune and he ran 11.38 @ 123 mph. Mike ran an 11.21 @ 122 mph. This shows that carbon fiber hood + carbon fiber trunk + skinnies are all worth 0.17 which is about a tenth and a half (for all three items)

My "HUGE difference" comment was in response to simply running lighter wheels and it is certainly valid. The reduced width of the "skinny" and the location of the weight savings is what really helps vs. just running a lighter wheel similar to stock width.

There is also some great data from the last MIR rental. Lots of clean with and without runs from multiple cars who got to use the skinnies on the same day.

I understand they make a difference.... but how much do you think they are worth down the 1/4 mile? one tenth, two tenth? We tested them on the E55 platform and I believe they were worth one tenth but even then was not consistent

Based on the previous MIR rental data posted, they were consistent in reducing ETs by at least a tenth and adding more than a MPH for all the cars that ran them. A proven mod for sure considering how few incremental mods we really have available for our platform.

A simple air intake as per petro is good for the same?

No doubt he got some great results testing the RENNtech box vs. the Carbonio. He posted some great data. Definitely worth considering.

In your opinion if I added a renntech air box would I trap 1 mph faster and drop one tenth? Just by adding that intake?

I've tried the carbonia intake vs stock on my car an on mthis car to find no better results so I honestly leave it in as a reminder I paid 2,000 for a yellowing peice of carbon!

Petro's data would make me believe you would see some kind of gain; not sure if you would see a full tenth or not. It was clear that all of the RENNtech airbox runs were definitely faster than with the Carbonio. Every bit helps at this point.

Carbonio in my opinion is worth less! I have some ideas for a custom intake! I'm going to try to put something together! But I'd love to grab a renntech intake for some testing! I have a good amount of experience to really see if it improves

MHB do tell, whose airbox is that? I've never seen the inside of any of them so I can't tell.

Thanks!

I sometimes catch some flack for not sharing what I know publicly on a forum. These days with online sales being king. You only get a picture to sell a product. I felt it is important to share a picture like this. So people know what they are really getting, If they purchase this advertises "carbon fiber" airbox.

Sadly a month ago, If someone asked if this airbox was C/F. I would have said "Yes it is" However there is a lesson to be learned. These days I do not endorse any product until I put it in my hand. Being this was a first opportunity to do so on this so called C/F airbox. I was friggin shocked to say the least.

With that said, I shared with you guys something many people don't see. and thats the inside story.

I don't think that is the Carbonio, since the Carbonio is wider than stock. But I can't say for certain since it looks like it was masked off in Photoshop. It's been awhile since I looked inside my Carbonio but the inside seems different as well, and I definitely don't recall the fragile edges as shown in the picture.

I'm not sure how the Carbonio sounds on our cars (*or if you can even hear the difference considering you have headers ) but, I noticed a difference in exhaust sound -- an improvement IMO -- with ROW's, so perhaps you like the sound from the Carbonio and in that case it's not a total waste?

Dodger - Go get some more "cheddar" and get the Renntech intake and match it up to the Gruppe M you got, pick up your lighter rear wheels and go racing!! I love not being the first on some things. Keep paving the way!!

PS: The faster you go the more "cheddar" it takes and all the sudden you can justify it. LOL

Great numbers from the East Coast Boys!!

For the record I don't see any hating going on in this thread just real discussion regarding the impact of certain mods. I am very curious about the Rennteck intake especially seeing that they trapped 125+ quite some time ago at West Palm Beach and I believe without long tubes. I wish we had a non c/f choice with a reasonable price tag. Last year I had my car and Keith's at a private rental and shared the skinnies. On that day they were good for one tenth ET and 1.5 mph trap.
