After countless oil research on this forum and others and dealers, use 0w40 if you live in the snow. Use 5w40 if you live in warm conditions otherwise you are going to get premature cam, lifter and cam adjuster wear. I live on the coast of South Africa and 13 degrees Celsius is the coldest we get on average so adjust your oil to your climate. There's no one oil that fits all AMG's. I use Liqui Moly 5w40 or Petronas 5W40. AMG specked 0w40 in the beginning then they found out they made an F,up and changed it to 5w40 here. Speaking from experience so you can take my word for it.

What if I live in Vancouver, Canada. 0w40 or 5w40?

You should go 0w40 because you live in a colder climate. The 0w40 oil is thinner than the 5w40 oil when cold, and will therefore be able to get into the top of the engine quicker upon cold start for better lubrication.

I see you guys have selected Motul 5w40 for warmer climates.

I will pick the same here in Australia as we are going into summer.

it’s Mobil 1 or Motul for me.

thanks.

I'm also in Sydney and recently replaced all my tappets due to ticking and put in liqui moly 5w40 leichtlauf high tech with Ceratec and engine is now purring.
Bought the liqui moly 5w40 leichtlauf high tech and Ceratec from Spares Box thru ebay (better price than Spares box direct).

I recently changed the oil and filter (using a Mann filter ) but I've since found out that the oil was 229.3 instead of 229.5 will this be of any detriment to engine and should I drain it out and put in 229.5

You're in the wrong forum, this is c63 and quite a different engine requirement.

I'm aware that this is not the correct forum as such but the oil specification is the same for my engine which is the M276 3.498 cc

there are many oils in that spec. For instance there are also many oils in the 229.5 spec for an m156 but we are only allowed to use a few of them. So if you used a 5w30 but you are only allowed a 40wt then it matters more than if you are allowed a 30wt. Thats why you'll get a better answer on a forum for your engine/car, where owners have already researched what the spec entails.
