You can do one of two things.
I would personally store the car in the garage until the winter passes.
Or
Get snow tires, always drive with the traction control on, and be careful.

I guess it's only difficult if you have a severe lack of experience. Winter driving is par for the course up here, slap on the winter tires and drive carefully - leave extra space, be light on the throttle, etc.

Let's be real, this is a 4000lb sedan, not a 3000lb 2 dr. coupe with 3" of ground clearance and 35 series tires.

The C63, with the right snow tires, is an awesome car in the Winter. I was never stranded, even in the worst conditions and the car tracked like a freight train

with the vredestein wintrac extreme and quaife lsd, no problems getting around in the snow last weekend. I was actually more worried about someone else sliding into me..

This is so frustrating...

Just got of the phone with tirerack, Alex was very friendly and explained some info to me.

He said the blizzaks are out in my size, and he would not recommend blizzaks (kind of funny from tirerack)

Anyway, he recommended Dunlops 265 in the back 235 in the front with stock rim. He said that they are pretty good in the snow and ice, and do not sacrifice too much of the dry handling.

Can anyone comment on this?
I am now debating between the perrelis and the dunlops
And i am out of NY so it only really snows couple of time a year, i can always take gf's g37x (i know i know her car not mine )

BTW Dunlop 3d Winter sport

Thanks

I have driven Dunlop Winter Sports (high speed) on several Benzes over the years and I give them a thumbs up, they are great tires and have great longevity.

My dealership recommended the Blizzaks, and I'm not 100% satisfied with them, wish I woulda got something I could stud....but 400lbs of salt in the trunk helps immensely..

I ran some LM25 last year but didnt get much snow however in the days where it did have snow on the road the car worked very nicely. Its gonna be better than 4matic C class on all season but its not gonna behave like a range rover or any real SUV. Nevertheless, while you have to be careful with the throttle, the braking is improved dramaticly making it much safer to drive in winter condition. Overall as long as you don't drive into more than 2 feet of unplowed snow you go through winter very safely in your C63 on some nice performance snows.

PS. My rear set of Lm25 ran out last winter so i was gonna get some Lm60 which is the replacement for LM25. However apparently after reading some reviews LM60 doesn't seem to be very good. End up getting some Hankook ICE Bear W300. Just put these tires on yesterday and on dry road they behave very nicely

I got the Hankooks W300 this season because they were cheaper than Dunlops and Bridgestones and they work just as good as 3Ds, Contis, or LMs.
However, now that I've driven the C63 in the snow again for the last 2 weeks, I have to admit it truly is tiring to see the ESP triangle blinking NON-STOP...

I know what you mean...
Canada, eh?

By the way, how did you go about painting the stock 18's? Powder? 'D.I.Y' spray paint?

The wheels were baked in a large oven where the paint became more durable. It was more expensive than powdercoating but they guaranteed it was worth it. The color is satin black but now I know should have gone with gloss black. Nevertheless IMO the wheels look amazing, much better than stock paint.

+1 for the garage.......

NYC isn't too bad but for those of us who live i harsher climates.......

I just drove my C63 today with 4inches of snow and ice, and a 30 deg incline (ie my street and driveway), and am so glad I bought my 4x4 Chevy Silverado (with new hankook winters).

the esp is on all the time (very hard on the brakes btw), and i even drive with esp sport to give me more control. yes, you can "get away with it" but please don't kid yourself and believe that this is an above average winter car.

yes......i grew up in canada gre up with rear wheel drive cars. our climate is very erratic here (cause of the lake and escartment). our roads are often not plowed or are plowed late. And no, I don't consider toronto real winter driving. I think the C63 is OK for most toronto winters. Having said that, I have young kids, and my C63 will stay in my garage this winter. I think the majority of us here can afford to get a winter car. Please exercise some common sense. have a safe winter everyone

The whole point of the thread, as you noted with your trucks, is that you should get a good set of winter tires and not to try and drive around on your summers in December
