Eurocharged 63 AMG Flash - TORONTO - Pending Date
I was also told that there is a specific method of opening the ECU (being heated during its removal), that it could be made to look as if nothing had been done at all. I am sure it all comes down to whos working on your car, and Im hoping if/when I drop my car off to a dealership to have it worked on its someone professionally trained given the value of our vehicles. Im sure if someone is qualified to the extent that I would expect them to be when working on my car they would be able to tell if the ECU has been tampered with.
Given the circumstances and the fact that it is a brand new car I decided to opt out of the tune despite how badly everything inside me wants to get it done. Its pretty much a judgement call but I would never be able to justify to myself when dishing out money for something if it werent covered under warranty OR you could always just destroy the entire car yourself, claim it as an accident and get a new one through insurance lol, but that too seems like a lot of work and effort.
Regardless of what you decide, GL and safe driving, for all those getting the tune this spring or january depending on whats been decided I truely, deeply HATE YOU all, lol! J/K. But I am very jelous that you have been able to pull the trigger. Hopefully we can always get Jerry to come back again and do it in a year or so.
Anyway for all those getting it done, again, more horsepower 2 u n ill b Cing you as you pull away!
1) Adding any aftermarket performance part will void your warranty if a Catastrophic failure can be attributed the performance part. (extremely hard to prove).
2) As for an ECU tune, MBCanada can only flash ECU's and do NOT have the ability to read the ECU. This is according to my MB shop foreman (dealing with him for the last 6 years.) He knows I Tune and Track my AMG's and supports me 100%.
3) If you were to have a catastrophic engine failure you can always flash back to stock before you have the car towed to the dealer if its a concern. I know of some enthusiasts that have purchased a separate ECU to tune and use the stock ECU when they go in for service. Over kill but effective.
4) If we reverse engineer this (from my research) there has never been an AMG Catastrophic engine failure claim in Canada that has had a warranty claim denied due to an ECU tune.
Just some food for thought.

I believe North44 and me have the same mutual friend that mods our cars, and if a problem does ever arrive at a certain benz dealer in the GTA regarding mods on our cars, one quick phone call from him to the service department and the service at the dealer will be performed "no questions asked"

People go with the 172mm as it doesn't generate as much heat as the 180mm. You will love either one tho.
Bring your ecu with you, we don't need the car to tune her, and you can take advantage of the MASSIVE discount on tuning!
you said bar singular....lol

, but he has mentioned you quite often when i chat with him on msn
