2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series Coupe to get 5.5-liter turbo

The Mercedes-Benz C Class already has a hugely capable and entertaining performance model in the 451-horsepower C63. But a refreshed C Class is expected to bow at next month's Detroit Auto Show, and an exotic Black Series Coupe is expected to follow later in the year.

In a conversation last night with Inside Line, Mercedes-Benz announced that when the new C-Class AMG Black Series Coupe (we're assuming it'll keep the C63 naming convention) hits sometime next year, it will carry a version of the company's twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8. In the S63 AMG and with the performance pack, this motor makes 571 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque between 2,250 and 5,500 rpm.

But consider that this is the $100K + Black Series and that the last one, from 2007, had 500-horsepower. Is a 71-hp jump-- equal to a sedan -- going to cut it? Our guess is no.

What we do know is that Mercedes said it would be "an M3 killer."But those of you following our twitter already knew this.

Probably, but who knows?
They have pics of the C63 with metallic wheel arches allready, Renderings of the C63 BS coupe. People are saying its gonna retain the 6.2 N/A V8 while others are saying its going to have the 5.5 TT V8.

If I were to go on a hunch I would say MB is coming out with a C63 BS Coupe with the 5.5TT V8.
