I ordered gunmetal gray Forgestar F14's from Automotive Connoisseur Group (via
Peter@ACGSD). Due to a mixup that is partially my fault and partially ACG's fault I received matte black wheels.
Today I decided to mount them just to see how they looked and decide if I wanted to keep them or take advantage of ACD's generous offer to make the mistake right.
Below are the photos I took. I'm sure some of you will love the look and others will hate it. My family's votes
Wife: "I hate them. They look like spare wheels."
Daughter (17 yrs): "They look bad ***."
Son (14 yrs): "Baller! Gangster! Txt me a picture so I can show my friends."
I'm still undecided. I really wanted gun metal gray and would never had ordered black.
I am very happy with the fitment. The ET40/ET55 combined with the 245/275 Vredesteins appear to fit exactly as I had hoped.

Tires:
Apologies for how dirty my car is. The weather here has been terrible and it was 33 degrees today. I could not wash the car for fear of turning my driveway into an ice rink.

Looks awesome. Really pops with the red calipers
Mine were matte black too when I got them but I ended up painting a custom colour similar to the gunmetal

Hey "cek"
I would stick with the black if its that or gun metal gray. I think the black has a better contrast and the gun metal gray will just blend in. I understand your concern but on that light silver color I would definitely stick with the black. They look great with the red calipers. Just my opinion. Now you need a new hood. LOL
Black out the chrome trim and paint the "C63" emblem on the side black and that would look sick!!

Very hot, I agree with Dads C63. Gunmetal would be too close to your paint color. If you are going that route, make it match perfectly... but please don't go that route.

Blacking out the badges is a good idea, then get some carbon fibre highlights to really make it look perfect, vath front lip and a diffuser and a spoiler would look awesome.

Both colors are nice... it all depends what direction you are going for... black for sporty, gunmetal for classy. GL with your decision.

Ew, what a disgusting-looking car all around. And it has that atrocious P31 package, too. I'll give you $8k for it, to rid you of that monstrosity - and that's doing you a favor.

I ordered gunmetal due to the fact that Black is becoming way to popular in all vehicles, it also attracts alot of unwanted attention and police. Gunmetal blends in and looks almost stock to some.

I'd listen to the lady you're sharing a bed with. I'm not a big fan of black rims. Get the Gun Metal Gray you had your heart set on initially. It'll come back to bite you in the *** when you wished you had the gun metals but kept the matte black!

Wow looks great! Sorry I am late to the discussion. I think your car color in itself is awesome. The black does look good but I am personally more partial to alloy or silver wheel because its makes the tires stand out in the well and it emphasizes the depth of the wheels and the perfomance tires...
But I know you spent a lot of money and they do look like they mean business on the track...

I'd vote for the gunmetal, but I've NEVER been a fan of all-black wheels. Can't quite articulate an exact reason, but if I could, it would be somewhere between your wife's comment and the fact that the MAJORITY (probably not true on this forum) of people running blacked-out wheels are under 22.

I have black centered wheels on my Porsche. But they have silver rims (factory Fuchs) I love the way they look. See:
However I've never liked all black wheels on cars. Like another poster said, I can't really say why I don't like them but I don't. I think the look represents an attitude or something that bugs me. Anyway, I'm 100% sure I'm going with another color. The only question is precisely which hue of gray...
