Check Engine Light ?
The CEL came on in my 2010 C63, so I took it into Mercedes. They said that it was a Purge Valve, but after examining the purge valve it was found not to be faulty. They have updated their Star software, but now their software isn't communicating with the OBD II, in the car. I talked to other dealers, and they are having the same issues, MB needs to fix the glitch in their software so that Star can properly diagnose the issue with my C63. Because after the code was cleared from my car, the check engine light has come on again. So we definitely have an issue for the CEL, what can it be? There are no issues with driving the car, but the issue isn't going away.

Nope, that factory charcoal filters are still in place. I thought it might be the new gas mixture for the winter, and they thought so too, but indications pointed towards the purge valve, but after testing the purge valve it was found to be working correctly.

I think that its bad gas, they add an additive for winter. And I will have them scan the code on Friday once I return home

I don't know for sure, I'm just trying to eliminate possible contributing factors.

I had this same issue on my 08 C63. Purge valve leak, replaced it..then replaced some of the lines and etc...in the end. My car was in dealer back and forth 6+ times and over 30 days. It was lemon'd and they gave me a new C63.

I had the same problem with my 09 C63. The Check Engine light came on after I did the following: ECU tune and charcoal delete, but apparently, after several trips to the shop (i even changed the filler cap for possible leaks), the problem was the purge valve. Car is back to normal , so far I havent seen the dreaded sign on my dashboard.

Im guessing this is the problem im having. I got the gas cap loose light, now a CEL. Gas cap was never loose. From what Ive read, this is the Purge Valve issue.

I didn't use any type of gas mixture, all I'm saying is maybe just maybe the gas station used an additive for the winter in there gas. And if they added an additive, maybe that is the cause of my CEL. I don't think it's the gas cap.

same thing for a 2009.
2 times at dealer and they replaced the gas cap to no avail.
Finally one workshop told me its a leak in a fuel line somewhere close to the "charcoal canister" I think.. they fixed and replaced some sort of valve.. CEL never came back!!

It is the gas! I ran an experiment and all of the gas stations with a high ethanol content i had the same issue with their pump 91 octane. Went to a Shell 91 with no ethanol and light went out! No need for gasoline antifreeze ever unless you are in alaska !

Thanks for the heads up, I think that your on to something here. That would explain it, because it's not the purge valave. And the dealership even mentioned this, but i need to wait for there Star software fix, so that they can reset, and clear this code first.

Well after getting my friend Jack involved, and him contacting the shop foreman at my local dealership, I can honestly say now were making progress. The bottom line, is that I got another star laptop with the old software, that they will use to diagnose my CEL issue. Hopefully this will fix it. Since the new software will not communicate with my car, obviously MB will have to put out a patch for that issue.

The car still drives without any isses, but the CEL is still on, and that bugs the sh*t out of me. There are 4 codes present for a lean fuel condition, they need to be cleared. At first they thought it might be the purge valve, but that checked out ok. I thought that it might be the winter additive in the gas that these fuel companies add. But as you all know a Check Engine Light (CEL) could mean many things. Hopefully, now that they have a Star laptop with the old software, it can be fixed. Since the new software has issues, and MB is aware of this issue.

Well I reporting a CEL to Mercedes, and dropped the car of to be repaired. Codes 2091, 2095 0745 and 0749 for too lean a fuel mixture on both cylinder banks. Inspected production number of purge valve as per LI47.30-P-049162 found purge valve production number 09T246F needs updated purge valve 09T306 or newer. Found old purge valve intermittent valve jam causing it to stay open and cause a lean fuel mixture replaced purge valve w/updated purge valve. error codes erased, performed road test. Check engine light does not come on. Finally problem is fixed

AMG really needs to submit a TSB on this purge valve so that all the dealerships are aware of this issue.

I agree^^^ The purge valve has made the whole owning experience and the new car experience kind of depressing just a bit. I had two similiar issues in the first two weeks and it was taking the thunder out of ownership because I was in the dealership so many times and I was worried I had a lemon or that I would be dealing with it for a long time...
But even when it's fixed your always looking for the CEL to pop up!
