I believe one needs to use the iPhone-to-entering-data-manually cable. Which is a huge pain.
(I did this last night, so I'm interested to hear if I wasted my time!)

Just for the record these questions, have been answered before in other threads, but you didn't know that, and its fine. So in order for you to achieve your desired goal, you will definitely need an Media Interface Plus (MIP). This link will tell you all about it. http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/servic...ts/accessories
The MIP is what, I used for my iPhone 3GS, my contacts are now in the cars phone book, I also have bluetooth streaming and Pandora. It was also mentioned about text/email functionality but currently the iPhone doesn't support it, only Blackberry's do.

Or
Get rid of the Iphone and get a droid and transfer all your contacts via bluetooth with a push of a button.
Iphone does not support bluetooth transfers of data... no yet at least.

Sync the phone contacts with your mac or pc. Then just get a $5 PCMCI to memory adaptor from fleabay. Then "drag and drop" all your phone contacts onto a memory card. Plug the memory card into the PCMCIA adaptor then plug that into the open slot in the command unit and go to address book and import. In my case 600+ took about 20 seconds. done.
propain >> the iphone does support bluetooth transfer -just one at a time though..(which is stupid)
