looking at new tail lights
before i write how i plan to get this look.. does anyone know if these tail lights are sold as IS. (attached below)
if not.
here is how i plan to attain the EXACT look.
purchasing tail lights.. (not necessarily from this site, just showing you the one's i need) from what i understand there are two types.. both look the same but the "smoked" set has the white tinted a bit. i need the smoked for my purpose
http://turbometal.com/mercedes-benz-...ource=googleps
upon purchasing the tails and installing i would need to then get the outline of the lights vinyled or darkly tinted.. to bypass this.. i have though of purchasing these..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/08-09...Q5fAccessories
with my painting skills.. sit there.. get them painted black and apply w. the 3m adhesive they have and i should get the FINAL outcome like the image i have attached below.. what you guys think? unless i haven't searched enough and the tail lights come both smoked (the white section) and the outlining of the tails blacked out.. input on mod itself good or bad?
currently i have tinted the stock ones, tinted the red mine and left the white out.. i think bringing some color back to my car would look nice.. especially with a unique look like that

Here are some pics of what I did to get this sort of effective - https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w..._optics-2.html I did not buy new lights at all, but just a smoked out films which went over the clear section of tail-light. Very easy to put on. Can't remember the same of the supplier, but could find it for you if you need it. Cost was $20.00 or so and no issues with sun, heat, cold, water, or even snow.
Then I went for the full blacked out look....

propain.. i know.. chrome is just so nice though! NOT! like i said i'm planning on taking that part for it's purpose of peel and apply onto headlight so i can get the trims covered, but i would paint mine black since i can not find a black trim set.. no chrome! i agree! adding that to an amg would take away ure amg privileges
harrower, that's how mine are now, but i ran across these and fell in love, i love them now too, but getting some red back i think is good, especially with the way those tails look, the red w. the trim accented black, i think it looks very unique and clean
below i've attached an image of my lights now, just like yours.
amg4john, there is no housing work done paint wise, what me and harrower have is a tint film, it comes in a different type of "%" unlike window tint, most i've seen in the new york area are by the #/10 scale or... light, medium, dark stated by the person who does the work. mine were tinted "medium" it's like a 5/10 tint job on them, but i did not get the white done, what many do is like harrower did initially and smoked the white, not the red, but i want those tails all in all in the images i posted with the white shortened up to where the reverse bulb section is with the red trim around the reverse rectangle, it looks very unique

I hear ya. Just messing around. When I got my 09 C63 it came with chrome from the dealer and this forum had me a gun point over it!
Looks like a good idea!

ebay.. in chrome, that's why propain was fooling around
you have to purchase them and paint them black yourself as spec_davis agrees and has done on his car from the images in his sig.

2009 C350-Sold. Now, M3 Vert
Skokkosis...the link for those tails you posted seem overpriced. Do a search on eBay motors for w204 tail lights. Around 270 is what I paid for mine over a year ago on my 350'. Great quality. No complaints. And the price is for the pair. Sabersport and Revosport are 2 sellers on the bay' that have them. Hope this helps.
