Its not true 3d, atleast not in the traditional 3D movie/TV kind of way.

It's basically a method of split screening, showing two different images based on the angle of viewing, while still allowing whomever is looking at the screen to utilize the entire screen.

So a passenger can watch a movie or whatever, while the driver still see's the radio/nav/whatever, all on the same screen. Does not require glasses

I have no looked at the article, but that is my guess, based on the fact that this tech is showing up in more and more cars lately.

3D refers to Navigation Map, TFT is better image quality compare to traditional LCD.

So...was wondering whether i'd buy the only pre-owned E63 (W212) in finland or order a new C. C it is. Although i'm quite sure it's a more fun car to drive
I suppose the estate version feels just as good as the sedan?

Most likely trade in my 08 for a brand new 2012. I think Mercedes has finally started to listen to the owners. Hopefully the wheel offsets is the same as the current model so I can just swap from one car to the other. Does anybody know if this new model will finally have a decent adjustable suspension?

All recent LCDs are TFTs, so the mystery still remains as to what they mean exactly by 3D...

No, the suspension will most likely not be adjustable. Only adjustable suspensions so far have been the airmatics and that is not the option here. Maybe they have figured something else though, like the BMW EDC. Based on the pictures there however is no button for it, as it would be most likely be placed right next to the gear shifter.

with new models some changes are for increased safety and fuel economy and someof these things are heavier, anyone know if the update is heavier or lighter

No specs regarding weight have been given so far. The new C-class with a 250 CDI engine weighs 1675 kg (whatever that is in pounds), whereas the pre-facelift model with the same engine weighs 1735 kg. This would indicate that the base models at least have lost some weight, so it would be logical to assume the same goes for the AMG model.

The brochures I have here at home for the facelift show the C350 (306 ps) with a weight of 1610 kg. and the 4matic 1670 kg. 1 kg. is 2.2 pounds.

Ok. Ah, i checked the estate weight. Could have been worth to mention...
Anyway, after comparing the facelift info to some info on pre-owned cars, the weight seems to be the same, at least for the C350. So apparently no weight reduction after all. But the biggest change seems to be the tranny. Is it heavier or lighter than the old one?

We wont know until the C63 specs are released, at least the hood for the facelift should show some weight reduction.

Yeah, that's true.
A question of taste: Would a matte black C63 look good with the matte black wheels seen on the pictures of the white one? Or is it too...mafioso'ish :P I really want a matte black paint, but on the other hand if a rock from a car in the front hits the hood or any other place with pain it's gonna leave a nasty white dot...

I would say that you need some contrast, my personal opinion would be silver. I would love matte black but I am not sure of the up keep and heavens forbid if you get a scratch in the paint.

Upkeep could indeed be a b!tch.Here in Finland they also put a lot of salt on the road which makes the snow all slushy and leaves a real mess on the car that basically only goes away by using some strong tar remover. I wonder how the paint reacts. Maybe it just simply is too much trouble, not to talk about the 8k pricetag ( € ).

Thats all they use down here as well, salt, salt and more salt which is poison for any vehicle. I am sure the matte colors can take a beating and for that price it should, but I wouldnt know how to clean and treat it. I am sure that there are enough people on this forum that know

I just know that i can't use wax...or actually i do not need to use regular wax, and can not use hot wax as it will damage the matte color and make it more reflective. That'd suck. I did however start thinking of other designo colors that would make it unique without all the trouble

I really don’t understand all the hype about the new model, Personally I hate the Pep boys special led lights, the car is not aggressive. I hate the civic like two tone seats and the long strip along the dash. I guess they are really marketing the car towards the younger generation. The only thing I like is maybe the trans but I have a huge concern as to how much power it can hold however we will only know that over time. Otherwise I think those have the 09,10 or 2011 may have the best looking c63 that was and will ever be made.

After much contemplation, I agree mostly with what you stated. The more I look at the two tone seats, the more I dislike it (loved it originally, but then it made me realize that it "declassed" an MB). Starting to remind me of the '90 and early '00 vehicles. Everything was two toned, and mostly were the younger audiences of <30 year olds. Not saying it is better, just stating that it isn't for everyone. I love the current w204's style, especially when I thought w203's looked amazing, for its time. W204's current style is probably the most aggressive that we will ever see. Still love my pop up navigation, I don't care what you guys say lol. The name's Long, Van Long.
