Trade for a 2009 (won't help the ESP though)

Nothing you can do. hughes is right that the 09s will remember the transmission setting (C will stay C, S will stay S, M will become S) but there is nothing you can do about ESP.
This is pretty common across brands and I do not know of any sports car that will remember a setting other than full ESP on once you restart a car.
I agree it would be nice to have a button ala BMW that a single press of that button sets all the settings to what you desire.

Thanks, question solved, thread closed lol. Takes only a few seconds, but sometimes I forget to change the settings, and have to park the car to change them. I don't dare do it while driving. Park at red light, couple button presses, and vroom.

Why do you need to be in Park?

I switch both settings on the fly all the time. Never had any issue.

I don't know why, maybe just being careful.
