Haha we hit -35 this morning but I forgot to take a pic. I haven't seen -40s in years here, that'd be a sweet pic. There's gotta be some winnipeggers here that do it.

WOW!! that is cold. Could someone tell me if the C63 gives you a cold weather warning(32 or below)? My last BMW 335i and my current VW GLI give me the warning but it hasn't get that cold here in Tucson. I am very curious to know. Thanks!

My GTI did it, my M3 did it, but neither my C63 nor CLK BS does it.

that's insane . the coldest it gets here in El Paso , TX is around the high 20's , and that's about 3 days a year . other than the few days a year where we have 60+ mph winds , i really enjoy the weather here . i will take my desert climate over anything else . it does get hot here ( 100-110 deg ) but at least it's dry heat with little to no humidity .

I have winter tires, and they work great. If the road is dry, I can lay down all the power from about 50km/h onwards. I ran it up to 220 last night before slowing things down, wanted to feel the extra power haha. Problem is very few roads are completely dry with no black ice.
I do wish the C63 has AWD though, from 0-40km/h on ice and snow really sucks. The car handles the conditions great once you've got some speed.

What type of winter proofing would you have to do, to the C63 with temperature below zero ?

Thanks Wankeldude,
The coldest that it got here in Northern Virginia, last winter was about 17F. Thank God for heated seats!

Both me and my cousin used to own SLK32's, and it couldn't handle temps like this. Both our intercooler welds failed in extreme cold, causing the intercooler to fail. That was not pretty haha.

There is no block heater available (or needed IMO) on newer Benz's and BMW's.

Available is one thing, NEEDED is a whole other? Ever spent a winter in Northern Wisconsin??

If anything, most people that can't start their cars in this weather is because of vapors freezing up the spark plug tips. Block heater doesn't fix that.
Battery warmers, on the other hand, is probably a better buy for winter, since battery performance drops HUGE in this weather. A fully charged battery in these temps can drain down to around 30 seconds of cranking power.

I have had my car start while sitting outside in -35 that we had last year. Makes no difference. Just drive it slow until the oil is up to temp and then let it rip... haha
