Math wrong or stick to my guns? 2010 C63
So, there are about 10 new 2010 C63 listed at MB dealerships. They are priced between $68K-70K. With the 2011 on the lot and the 2012 getting a facelift, I thought this would be a great time to get one.
My assumptions:
Invoice Price - I looked at the internet based invoice price for a base model worth $57K, it showed $53K as invoice, so that is $4K of play there.
Trunk Money - The dealers got $10K in trunk money. My own dealer confirmed this. They can do whatever they like with this, including not give it to the buyer if they choose.
My Price:
I arrived at $54K based on the $4K in mark up over invoice and $10K in trunk money for a $68K car.
The dealer came back at me with their "best price" being $58,800.
Is anyone more right or wrong here, are we both nuts? Any insight is appreciated.

Invoice should be 7% + 3% hold back and bonus. Not sure how trunk money figures in on this. Some dealers are known to add advertising fees fees as part of their invoice.

I forgot to mention, the "best price" number came directly from GM's mouth spoken directly to me. I'm not sure if he should be treated as another salesman or not.

Yes MB's invoice price is almost always 7.5 to 8% off MSRP and 10% to be their bottom line with no additional discount. 55k sounds good, but make sure you factor in your state taxes. I would try 53.5k first and slowly pump it up if they don't bite.

You guys are forgetting that not all dealers received "trunk money". The other thing to consider is that those cars on the lot may not have been punched. If they weren't punched, then that 10k does not exist.
