Finally drove it hard for the first time
Wow what a trip. I'm coming from two consecutive M3s and a little experience with an E39 M5 but the torque and top end power of this motor has warped my mind.
Went WOT from second once or twice but on winter tires I can't get the power down. Punching it in first is actually more embarrassing than it is fun. Looking forward to putting some 275 PS2s on the back in the spring. From what I've read here I don't think I'll even bother fitting the stock tires. Anyone local want them?
The throttle blips on downshifts and sound of the motor and the sights of heads turning as I fly past are worth what I've spent on the car. Calgary is a well off town but this time of year the exotics aren't on the road so it feels like you'll never encounter a faster car and you can drive like a dick with impunity. Very cool sensation and for me it's a first. I love it.
There is such a duality of purpose about this car. Stick it in C and tune into the sat radio and it's a nice plush ride - what you'd expect from a benz sedan and very similar to a C350 of which I put 30k kms on. But flick it into M, sink into the seats and stand on it and it's a totally different experience. I know it's cliche but I think I got two cars for the price of one here.
The only drag is the fuel consumption. I couldn't care less about what it costs but given the relatively small size of the tank I'm actually a little concerned about range on the highway.
Anyway up until today the car didn't really feel like it was mine. Now it does. Can't wait for the next drive.
Do you have LSD?
I have it on my car and remember feeling like the TC in my car didn't kick in as frequent as others complained.
I think the LSD is a big option to have on this car.
Just be careful on those ice cold streets and leave the TC on

Enjoy
