Hard acceleration in 1st Gear = red "1 UP" in the speedometer??
Hi guys, I am just a little concerned to see a red "1 UP" message (actually the whole speedometer turns red) when I am doing hard acceleration in the 1st gear in M mode. My car only has 2k miles and I haven't really pushed it too much, but I don't see the same message in any other gears? Is this normal?

It's called a Shift Light
It will do it in every gear when you get close to the optimal shift point or redline
It's there so you don't have to look at the tach to shift

totally normal, happens to me every time I go WOT
it is a little unnerving, but I don't think it does any damage, I can't believe it took you that long to "see the light"

Don't worry, if you continue to bounce it continually off the limiter it'll eventually change itself.

I have not tried it.. but does the limiter not kick in when you hit the maximum redline RPM's
Even true manual clutched vehicles do that, its the self preservation mode that almost every new engine I know of has.....
In case no one has actually hit the limiter, usually you lose all power for a very short period and the rpm's drop, at a certain point, probably around 2 to 3k below redline, you regain power (atleast my VW did that).

I have noticed when you don't drive the car that hard theshift lights will be at differant points...like after driving normal for a week or more the lights will come on at a lower rpms then when I reset the tcu. Has anyone else notice this? Or did I just think that was happening and not realise it?

When I tried it on Manual, braking drops my gears, but it won't shift up unless it bounces off redline too much correct? Letting it shift itself doesn't have a sonic boom effect. I love downshifting...but I get about 5 miles a gallon. And welcome back BLACK CLK! Finally got my car bish!

Sorry I thought wheb you reset the ecu,(turn the key, hold the gass ect.) It reset both the tcu and ecu but it must be just the ecu but I'm still almost positve that, that would change the shift points.

Take off the start button; use your key to turn to position two (2) just before engine start; fully depress gas for 5-10 seconds; turn the car off and wait for at least 2 minutes.
