Most likely failed cam sensor(s) or one or more cams are out of sync with the crank. Happened to me but because of the tune I had to pay for the cams to be "re-learned". Wasn't bad, just two hours of labor after MB replaced two cam sensors under warranty that were probably working fine.

Do you have a tune?
Could be spark plugs?? but I doubt it. Just throwing it out there.
Let us know what the problem was.

I just hoped I dont get screwed and they try to say something about me not having the secondary cats and res replaced with straight pipes!

I mean, the dealership may try to say something, but their argument would likely seem attenuated. *think that's how you spell that word.

I had a CEL, and had my purge valve replaced as well, there is a TSB out on this. Apparently there is a new purge valve out there that replaces the old part.

If the CEL is blinking, that means the OBD system detects misfire. That's the only reason it can blink. If your cam pos sensors got out of alignment, that could do it as well as cause no compression on the one side.
Good luck!

Actually.. they can void the warranty.. while they may or may not is a different story. Removing the cats and resonators changes the back pressure dynamic of the exhaust system, which directly relates to how the engine performs. Removing those, changes how it was designed to function, as a result, they could deny a warranty claim.
On the other hand.. if you changed the radio and the engine blew up, well they have to fix the engine under warranty.

No they cant. Catback modifications to exhaust do not alter warranty. Removing your 2ndary cats will likely void his emission warranty if they are real ****, but shouldn't affect his primary cats or o2 sensor warranty since it was done after. You don't lose everything. If anything he has less backpressure, which doesn't effect anything really except perception

I have actually read it a number of times, the basics of it is that they cannot void the warranty on something that uses after market parts (amongst other reasons) unless the damage resulted from those aftermarket parts. Modifications on the other hand are not covered, and I would gather that modifications (whether or not we all agree with the fact those modifications did not harm) to the exhaust system, which is a key component of the engine systems, could result in MB denying a claim on the engine.
You of course have every right to contest this, and attempt to get MB to warranty the engine, but that will be time consuming and costly.
