Wax products for your C63

I wanted to hear what kinds of wax products or cleaning agents you guys use to remove light clearcoat scratches (swirls from dealer pdi prepping of the car). Any particular ones you might recommend and the methods would be greatly appreciated.

Go hit up http://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-P...ocess-bmw-550/

Obviously you do not have to follow the entire process.. but plenty of good info there.

Edit: oh, and I use Chemical Guys 50/50 wax..

Wash, Pinnacle Clay, Pinnacle Cleansing Lotion, Souverain Wax, Lastly Crystal Mist For Candy Shine. Took me 6 hours to do it all. I like to be thorough.

you really need to use a random orbital buffer. porter cable with menzerna power finish, orange pad will work wonders. i have a 040 black, so I know about swirls and what it takes to make 'em go away. waxing won't ged rid of the swirls, with your lighter colored car they're not as visible, but they're still there.

I have used AALLOOTT of waxes over the years and the one I keep turning back to is P21S it goes on VERY easy and comes off just as easy. The one thing I love about it is that it doesnt stain plastic like most waxes do.

For light clear coat "spider webs" I usually use Dodo Juice Lime Prime, or Machine buff if I have alot of scratches. I use the 3M machine polish swirl mark remover followed with 3M ultra fine machine polish. Machine buffing works wonders on the paint.

Thanks for all your input. I just want to clarify that swirl marks are a little exaggerated, but what I see is light clear coat scratches from when they pdi the car. It's nothing serious, you can only see it from a particular angle and lighting, but it's just something that bothers me.

That was the point of my original link.. If you go through the blog posts, you will note that basically all cars come from the factory with crappy finishes.

Your first detail should be a complete one, start from step 1, through to finish, that way, you don't need to do as much further down the road.

Twice a year I do a major work over, menzerna power and finish polishes (orange and black (or blue)) respectively and porter cable xp RO polisher, glaze to hide any scratches I cannot buff out, sealant, then finally a coat of wax or two.

Then I usually wash the car every 2 or 3 weeks, and redo the wax every 2 months or so....

I have an 040 black C63 and it is 99.9% swirl and scratch free all the time. I also detail cars on the side and have tried many products over the years. Here's the process I use on my C63.

- Wash
- Claybar with either Pinnacle clay or Griot's Garage clay
- Remove swirls and scratches with Menzerna Super Intensive Polish (SIP) using an orange pad on either a Porter Cable 7424XP or Flex 3401 Random Orbital. (You only need to do this the first time or if you wait a long time in between polishing.)
- Increase gloss and paint clarity using Menzerna Super Finish or PO85RD using either a black pad or blue pad on the same RO polishers listed above.
- Give car a full wipe down with 50/50 mix of alcohol and deinoized or distilled water to remove any residue from polishes.
- Apply either Pinnacle Souverain wax or Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant depending on if you want paint depth or long term protection.
- Wash car again to remove any residue or dust.

The entire process will take about 16 hours for a black or dark coloerd car the first time, but should only require about 8 hours every 6 months after that. Lighter color cars can get by with about 2/3 of those times.

Keep in mind this process is not for everyone, but it will leave your car in the top 1% of paint finish of vehicle on the road.

If you spend the time to do this, make sure you only hand wash the car afterwards and use the 2 bucket wash method to avoid inducing swirls and scratches into the newly perfected paint.

You forgot to mention to take 2 ex str. Tylenols for knots in your back and shoulders. Shot of scotch to help sleep from the pain.

Mine usually takes around 2 or 3 days, but that is mostly due to the sealant, which needs 24 hours to properly cure before you put a second coat on.
