Thrown codes - help
I brought my car into the dealership today in order to figure out why it is throwing engine codes. The codes it is (or has) thrown are:
2234
2026
The tech explained that the 2234 is the Intake Air Temperature sensor, however, I can't validate that with anything I see online (did some searching for fault codes, and couldn't find 2234). Does anyone have details?
He explained that because my IAT sensor is not in the normal location, it is causing the code. I call BS on this, because the car has had this intake for 30k now, and has never thrown a code before. Also, it's stating that the sensor is reading 20.3 degrees (celsius) compared to air in the intake of 36.2 degrees. Sounds like the sensor is working if it's reading correct temperatures, it's just in a different spot.
Has anyone with an aftermarket intake had a similar issue? If so, please share your experiences.
As well, it appears that one of my headers has a very minor crack in it. I can't tell if it's just the coating or perhaps the entire pipe. Could this contribute to the 2234?
Any information would be great.
Note: no parts that are mentioned here are from site sponsors, or even major partners.
Have you reset the codes with your scanner and seen if they come back?
Some modded intakes pose no problems and then some weather condition cold temps and low pressure front pops up and causes a code. Goes away when the weather changes.
Hope that is it

Did you call the maker of the intake?
Check out that crack, for if it really is a crack that expands at operating temp it can cause all sorts of issues.
The IAT relocate is part of a 530 kit (Underdrive pullies, HiFlow air filters, Phenolic Heat spacers and Intake temperature relocating harness)and the CF Intake is a stand alone upgrade.
I have the same setup with 70K Klm on it and no issues. My IAT sensor is fully exposed behind the grille.
I do seem to remember Vadim had a similar code on an early VRP 530 kit (2009) and Victor (VRP) had one in Saudi Arabia. Both were the actual sensor that went bad.
Reset the codes and see if they return. If they do I would swap out the sensor itself.
Like ohlord said.....keep an eye on the header crack. Could be another issue unto itself.
Hope this is of some help....

I'll post a pic of the crack, but yeah, I'm definitely more concerned about that than the air intake sensor. I am surprised that I haven't seen some sort of 02 sensor issue...
