Can you tell (visually) if C63 has Development Package?

I'm sorry if this has been asked/answered, but I couldn't find it via search. I'm on the hunt for a used C63 (sorry, used prices don't justify laying out new money) and I'd like to find one with the Development Package - however, I'm assuming most used car dealers have no clue about this option. Is there a way (besides calling MB with VIN) to spot the Development Package on a used C63?

Thank you,
Erik

Red break calipers. But be careful cause they could have just painted them to make it look like a P031.

And I think that the rotors are 2 piece on the Development Package P031 and they are one piece on the normal P030.

Thanks - agreed that the red calipers aren't accurate as they can be painted.

All above are correct, but just to be sure either ask the owner for the orginal sticker or ask your local freindly MBZ dealer (in the service department since he wants your business) to run a build sheet on the car. Also are you looking for the P30 or P31 development package which are substancially different than each other.

Keep in mind that the red caliper came in 2010 not on the 2009, and suede steering is the easiest to tell if it has Performance package!

mine has p30 and no red calipers or cf spoiler, those come only on the 2010, 2011 and not on the 2008 2009!!!

I think the red calipers and the alcantara wheel are visual signs. Also if you look closely you should find 2 pc front brake discs and if you can look under the hood you should see a diff color engine Cover and air box.

The steering wheel can be ordered afterwards, so that's not a guarantee. I guess the most obvious way to find out is 1) checking the vin, or 2) checking out the intake manifold's color. Can't see anyone doing that as an aftermarket fix..

Best would be to look under hood like everyone says. It has lots of GLIT-TER. Shiver, Kesha, shiver.

This is wrong! I have a 2009 with p030 and I have the two piece front rotors. I have heard the newer P31 package has dropped the two piece rotors. Is this correct????

The P31 has compound front rotors. They are cast together rather than bolted together. There is a description here somewhere if you search you might find it.

The P30 package was replaced by the P31 package for MY2010. The P30 included different front brakes, suspension, LSD, a raised speed limiter to 174, and 19" wheels/tires. The P31 package has 30 more HP (through lighter engine internals and ECU tuning) a raised speed limited to 174, different front brakes and 19 wheels/tires. The LSD is a seperate option now. I'm not sure if there is a sport suspension option avaliable. For MY2012 there are minor body changes but the big improvement is a 7sp tranny with a wet pack clutch instead of a TQ converter.
P31 is a better package esp in the MY2012 with the LSD option and new tranny. With that said, it doesn't make the P30 package bad as you can always flash the ECU to get the extra HP like the P31.
