On HWY 281 north this morning on my way to work. Guy comes up to me...we just kind of looked at each other and then hit it. I thought I would get more out of him. We were going about 65 and I pulled about 1 1/2 lengths on him off the bat then kept pulling away. Backed off when I was about 4 car lengths on him and he flys by then start to do the Fast and Furious weaving in and out of traffic. Race was over for me. Thought these cars were fast. I think they have about 500 hp don't they? Anyways I took him with NO tune.

They are fast...maybe he was a poser? From a roll it should be closer than 4 car lengths.

Maybe... the car look like it had all the correct badges with the correct hood and exhaust. Anything is possible. But if it was anything less than the GT I would have expected more of a pull.

This is what I'm thinking. I may be wrong, but I thought a gt500 should walk a C63 (especially untuned) pretty badly.

For now, I have to be the first to raise the flag...

This looks like the more realistic result. Perhaps the guy you were racing was broken...

C63 was stock, 2008 gt500 with k&n filter , tune and magnaflow cat back.. So stock vs stock is going to be closer.

there is no such thing as a stock gt500. it's the cheapest easiest car to mod in the world.

hmmm... my bad. I saw stock v stock on the race 3 link. Still closer, but C63 power to weight is .123 hp/lbs and the gt500 is .144 hp/lbs.

One of the three. All I'm saying is power to weight ratio favours the gt500. Potential mods favour the gt500.

There are a lot of people that mod their gt's to make them look like gt500s.

Perhaps OP is 100% correct, but it means he got a big jump, the other guy's car was broken, or he had a cup of soup before finding the right gear (or didn't even bother changing from the cruising gear).

I'm not trying to hate here guys. It's just a stock C63 does not walk a gt500.

Yeah, def be much closer, but pulling 4 cars is a bit much un-tuned. Either way, good kill.

Just posting what happened to me this morning. That's all. It was a GT500 to.... Maybe the guy hesitated or whatever.

It did this morning...for whatever reason you want to pick

I guarantee you that is not a realistic result.. Can you confirm what is in the GT in that video?

Maybe...but it sure seems he was doing ok once i hit my brakes. I swear i'm not making this stuff up.....

Ok..so just to check that I wasn't going crazy. Car and Driver just tested the new 2011 GT500 at a 0-60 time of 4.1 and a 1/4 mi time of 12.4 @ 117....

So the GT in that video is not stock.....

I would think a GT500 would be at least head to head with a C63.

a gt500 stock vs stock against C63 wins all the time. I have done it against a friend both tune and no tune. With tune he only pulled about half car then it was neck to neck with a slight advantage to the 63. The guy in the GT didn't know how to shift in the OP story.

in a race like this, anything can happen... and a single bad shift for the gt500 can pretty much end it in my opinion... that's seconds of valuable time and the c63 is still going strong... so it's definitely plausible that the OP won... plus it's to his advantage that they only did it once... but i wouldn't go around telling everyone that i beat a gt500 (not saying that the OP is doing it here though)

i'd be more surprised and question it and post on the forum to get others opinions.

anyway, drive safe out there.

So much fuss over nothing...

OP had a good kill, congrats! I love it when someone rolls up on me, gets their a$$ handled and then goes weaving through traffic to try and regain some semblance of superiority. Yeah, bro, you're totally better than me at potentially getting in an accident.

On a totally separate note, I was at a friend's shop a couple weeks ago and this JDM kid is smack talking the Benz about how his Si with 40lbs of boost would "totally wreck that German piece of junk in a race." My friend's response: "Maybe so, but at the end of the day, you're still rolling back to your mom's house in a sh*tbox Honda." I almost pissed myself laughing.

Win or lose, we're still driving badass Mercedes'. Keep that in mind, kids.

+1 In my original post I said that I thought I would get more out of him. It surprised me that I did do that well. I think in looking back he might have missed a gear. I think after that momentum kept me pulling ahead. He wasn't going to catch up though. I don't think they are that fast. Anyways I have a P30 option...after his limiter hits 155 it's all over.

Thanks. I always am. After I hit the brakes he wanted to continue weaving inand out of traffic. I don't do that. I'm from San Antonio brother.

I love how people paper race, anything can happen in the real world. Yes his car on paper is faster, but he might have misshifted or started in the wrong gear. It is his fault he suck at driving.

Thanks brother. Yeah he kept going and I swear I thought he was going to lose it. I mean I had already slowed to the speed limit and this guy was still going....weird...

i remember playing a game at an arcade called wangan midnight where the whole point of the game was to out speed the other car. basically a highway race at night and you had to try and stay ahead of them as long as you can until your meter reaches a certain point... the further ahead you are from your opponent... the faster you'll win... and you had to dodge cars and try not to hit the walls...

Bingo...

Anything can happen. Thats why its a race. The C63 from 60 on is no slug. The GT500 stock from 60-130 is 11 seconds. A stock P31 C63 blows thats away as we have seen on this from DD-GT. A stock C63 non P31 would probably be close to 11 seconds.

The GT500 stock vs the stock C63 is not that big of a difference. So much so that if the GT500 isnt completely on his game he will lose or tie a stock C63.

To be fair anyhow racing a stock C63 vs a stock GT500 in power to weight put them in two different classes. The C63 NEEDS the tune to make it an even match. With the tune the C63 walks a stock GT500.

Nice kill anyhow... No matter what you were ahead when the race was over. Thats why he douched out and started weaving in and out of traffic... I hate when morons do that... You lost.. .get over it...
