Quite the opposite. Manual does not recommend downshifting manually until 1k, but does not bar from doing so. Sometimes pushing her hard is good, just not too extreme. Engine is good for breaking in. Strengthens it.

Yeah, as has been mentioned some of us who track our cars have experienced transmission overheating/stress during warm days at HPDEs. Earlyapex and I experienced the identical problem on the same day at Summit Point. This results in the inability to manually shift until the fluids cool down and a default to C mode. The first time it happens, it scares the crap out of you. The problem fixes itself after cool down.
I recently saw an aftermarket tranny cooler mentioned here, but have not looked into it further. My most recent trip to Summit Point was on a cool rainy day (dangerous) and we could not really push the cars to the point of overheating anything.
