anything i should look out for when buying used?
Hi guys im currently in the market for a c63. I found a used 2008 with headers and a tune and 18k miles. The only problem is that since the car has headers and a tune there is no warranty on the car any longer. I was just wondering if there is some way i could tell how much wear and tear is on the engine because i dont know how hard the previous owner has driven it. Also is there any parts i should be worried about based on any of your guys problems wiht mods and this engine? such as the tranny giving out? Any help or stories would be great. thanks

Check the service records. If all the maintenance is done on time then you have no worries.
What kind of headers and tune does it have.

ok thank you, it also has hi flow cats, not sure if that would cause a problem as much as headers and tune would. fairly sure its oe tuned and kleeman headers. ill double check

what kind of tune and headers does it have?

i have tune and headers for over 25k and no problems.
have more then 200 passes at the dragstrip still no problems. car is a tank.

Your main concern is passing a smog test. I believe the Kleeman headers are log type shorties that use the stock primary and secondary cats. Verify these are in place.This reduces the chance of smog test issues. (In Cali you can pass the smog test and still fail due to a visual inspection of aftermarket parts). Will OE reflash it back to stock if you don't pass smog. The cars are fairly bullet proof. With just those mods on it, I don't think you're looking at any issues. A 2008 with just 18K on sounds like it someone's baby that was well taken care of. When in doubt have a PPI done just to make sure.
