Launching the C63?
I just read an interesting article on launch control in the latest issue of Car & Driver (June 2011). They list about two dozen cars which currently have launch control, one of which is the C63. Does anyone know how to use this?
I'm not looking to drag race, but I do occasionally like to launch fast. When I floor it with ESP on or in sport mode, I find that the car cuts power for about a second (or at least it feels that long) before really starting to go, and it's getting annoying.
By the way, the article mentions testing the 911 Turbo S and getting a 0-60 of 2.8 s, and peak acceleration of almost 1.0 g.

The 2012 C63 will have an MCT transmission which should use launch control.
-Put the car in ESP Sport
-Turn the knob (near the shifter) into RS mode
-Hold down brake with left foot while right foot is fully pressed down on the gas pedal.
-build up the revs
-Immediately let go of the brake.

Sounds like the 2012 will definitely have launch control and the 2011 doesn't. So that leads to the question of how to best launch the 2011.
Turn off ESP completely (or partly)? Use S mode? Rev the engine while holding down the brake, then drop the brake? And is the latter bad for the car?

did you notice a difference in the wheel hop between different stages in the tire lifespan? For instance, did it hop whether new or worn, between different brands? I hate wheel hop and found that tires that were not overly soft would not hop or if the tires were on the higher psi level.
I am getting mine tomorrow, in the pouring rain.
