Finally...my C63 is here!
After a long 5 month wait, after much indecision, driving my wife, brother and salesperson nuts, I ordered the C63 back in December. The clincher for me was the last AMG event at Circuit Mt. Tremblant in the pouring rain back in October.
I had teetered back and forth between the E550 coupe, the XFR and the C63. Ultimately I had to forget the coupe thing, with three kids and a hockey playing son, the coupe was getting to be a pain, althouhg I love the style of the E550 coupe which I experienced at Calabogie in May of 2010, a fantastic coupe with a decent boot. The XFR, is a mad car. Cool, quiet and comfortable while exuding a panache that is quite unique and then it turns into a menacing beast once you uleash it. If anyone has driven one, I think you could say the the C63 compares very well...but twice i drove them, two separate cars, two electronic glitches scared me away!
I tried the 550i and the car was a bore. No exhaust sound, just a waterfall of speed which did absolutely nothing to ignite my soul. What's the point to have a car like that if it as quiet as a Town Car?
My brother is 1stamg, and I have met a few of the guys who post here at Tremblant. What I took from that day was how these guys positively light up when talking about their cars. Like they were dating supermodels or something! Just all out passion for their cars which made me want that feeling, and while hot lapping in an SLS, you can't help but feel the kinship when you hop into the C63.
After a tank, the car feels quite different on a day to day basis. Dare I say it, more liveable than I feared. I was slightly worried at the ride when I was a passenger in my brother's car but day to day it is actually decently damped considering the licorice-thick sidewalls. Also, my first automatic car ever in 20 plus years is a treat. Tough leaving it in "C" for 1000 miles, are they nuts? Most of the people who have seen it find the cream coloured interior gives it an exotic look, I agree!
I feel somewhat like a hooligan and am still breaking it in! It has been nice lurking for the most part and looking forward to learning more about the car and all your experiences.

Welcome to the forum coladin... I'm glad you're enjoying your car as much as your brother 1stamg (Nick). It must be painful to drive it slow during break-in... hehehe!

Welcome and congrats! Haven't seen 1stamg in a while. He's an upstanding member here
The C63 was also my 1st automatic trans car. Interesting breaking in a car with an automatic, huh? I felt I couldn't break in the engine without controlling the gears and power myself, so I used manual mode after a few hundred miles. Not exclusively, but enough to run the revs up and lift off through the gears, as I always have with my manual trans cars!
I know what you mean about enthusiasm for the car.... the best part is, it doesn't go away! C63 =

Thanks! I try to vary it a little bit. Most of the time in C but every time I get in a do a little bit in M but I would say 75% in C. Come on man, 1000miles is way too long!

1st AMG. SLS is also my dream car. If everything goes as planned (15 years ahead lol), I will have it at age 40. Lets just hope they look as good if not better in the future.

Why do I all of a sudden see RS4s all around me? There is this nice on-ramp near my house to work and , sure enough, there is a black one right in front of me, manual tranny?....and I check my oil temp and it's blinking ice cold 52 and the guy wants to ply...bah, still breaking it in though. Sounds real nice those Audi RS4s, I guess once push comes to shove he knows who is faster right?

Glad to hear you're loving the car Dino! I think I passed you on Colonade a little while ago. I was in a matte black c230 though so you may not have noticed. . Are you planning on lapping it at Calabogie at all? I just picked up my new helmet today so I'm good to go.

I've only had it for 10 days but yeah, I'd like to go to Calabogie, but rather a nice dry Mt. Tremblant! We should make an outing out of it, for sure, there are enough of us now.

Let's all get together for a coffee some sunny Sunday... it would be nice to chat with all the fellows Ottawa C63.
We are normally Me (white), Nick (silver), Jason (black) & Andrei (matte black)... and now we have you (black)... there's another member tem100(Tom) with a steel grey we met last year, but we haven't seen him around afterwards?? Any other C63 in the area?

I've never been to Calabogie, but from my experience... MT Tremblant is the cherry on the cake, what an amazing circuit!
