One of the luckiest days of my life
So it's a beautiful day here today about 65F and sunny, not a cloud in the sky.
I'm working from home all day because I'm leaving tonight to head to Lime Rock for my long awaited AMG Driving Academy.
That's awesome, but that is NOT why it is one of my luckiest days:
So I was traveling on the highway this morning heading home and I was traveling with traffic around 80 mph and a new Ford Taurus came up on me and tail gated me to move over.
I moved and he was going 90ish. He then slowed down to 80ish and I passed by--we did this a couple times and finally there was a nice open strech with no cars and I decided to lose this guy.
Lets just say I went WOT for a little while, use your imagination on the speed
So next thing I know, that guy is on my bumper and I'm like WTF.
Then the blue lights and siren--
I'm looking in the rear view and he points for me to pull over.
I did and he came to my window (dressed in shirt and tie) and shows me his badge.
He asks me why I was going over a 100mph and I said, "well there's no good reason to do so" and I apoligized and told him I wasn't trying to be a jerk.
He asked for my license and then asked if it was a new car and I said, "yeah, kinda."
I told him again, "I wasn't trying to be a jerk, I'm sorry."
He then said, you seem like a good guy (called me by my name) and said have a good day and handed me back my license
That has to be the coolest officer I've ever encountered (granted he wasn't a patrol officer) and if I ever meet that guy again, I owe him a bottle of whatever he wants to drink, anything
Let's just say, positive reinforcement works for me--I will be traveling the speed limit for a long while--until I get to the race track tomorrow
Just wanted to share my story, not all cops are *****s--I guess I should go buy a lottery ticket today

The car had regular plates and no tinted windows, antenna, etc.
The blue lights were hidden in the tint on top of the windshield.
He was probably a desk jockey or higher up dude, either way, he's my hero

I have had that happen to me numerous times, the officer gave me a warning and let me go. Boy, was I lucky those days.

Well, I did get caught last Sept doing 97 in a 55, trying to get away from some jerks tailgating me. Spent $1250 which includes a Lawyer, Advance and Defensive driving schools, speedometer calibration, fines, and court fees, not counting 5 points on my license.

Not true, if a cop paces you and tracks your speed, that's as good (and sometimes better than) radar for a judge. Plenty of evidence in this case, fortunately the cop was in a good mood and the OP handled himself well and wasn't a d*ck to the cop.

I got a ticket once for being paced, he could have absolutely hauled my *** in.
Anyone who is a wise *** or d!ck to a cop when they get pulled over deserves every bit of what comes next IMO. Even when it's BS, you must act cool, apologetic and polite--it's gotten me out of plenty of tickets before, but this one takes the cake!

Keep your eye's open.. expect to see the new chargers Taurus's (or is that Taurii) with interesting light configurations.... The only one you will know for sure is the new Caprice, it is not being sold to the public, so it will be very unique.
Oh, and as others have said.. don't be a dick to the cops...

this would NEVER happen in LA cops here are complete a$$holes. they try and pull you over for the stupidest things, especially since the city is broke. I think there is an insider investigation on channel 5 tonight about a police gang that all get tattoo'd with the same thing

In Canada, if you go 50km/h over they consider it "stunt driving" that is an actual offence and you lose your licence for 6 months. Plus all kinds of fines, points and the lot.

Break-in just finished and picked it up from tinting. Went out quickly just to drive VERY enthusiastically around 9pm in a well deserted area, an officer happened to be doing paperwork nearby.
Get pulled over - " I heard you hammering it from over a mile away then followed you going ***mph. Can I see your license and registration?"
I shuffle my pockets... nothing there " Sorry officer I forgot my wallet and have no insurance card. If I open my glove box I DO have a receipt for window tinting."
Officer replies, I appreciate you coming out here where its deserted...Congratulations on the new car, now get out of here and drive safely home.
2nd encounter with an BMW M cop!
Driving in M down shifting to slow down making lots of noise but not overly fast. Get pulled over, then a second cruiser pulls in T- boning me in. First cop gets out...
Cop - "Do you know what caught my attention... The sound of your car when you were racing that subaru.
Me - I wasn't racing him I simply overtook him..my car is loud though.
Cop " Do you know what I drive??
Me- Do you really want me to guess?
Cop - Yea, Do you know what I drive
Me - I don't know a porsche?
Cop - No an M5, and I've never got in trouble now give me your registration.
I hand my papers and he goes into his car.
Cop 2 gets out of his car. "wow nice car! my partner told me you were ripping around, what were you doing"
ME- I tell him that I honestly wasn't paying attention but I wasn't hammering it. We talk about cars for a bit and joke that COP 1 just pulled me over because he was a BMW M driver. He walks over to his parters car. They talk for a bit and cop 1 comes back with NO ticket and tells me to drive slower.
Drive carefully now and more alert for police... dont want to push my luck.

You think that's bad in Ontario?
Try BC worst laws in the world
Over 40 and you lose your license for a week and also impound for a week
If worst try this

Here's hoping that luck rubs off on me around here.
