Oil Level 1in. Above 2nd Tab
So I decided to check my oil level today, without starting it for a week. Level reads above 2nd red tab. Not sure if this is good or bad. I have driven it about 150mi. since an oil change. Have not had any lights come on dash except the occasional warning light when on wet roads. Opinions on what I should do. I know too much oil can hurt the car, but if no lights on it should be ok, right. Should is the key word here.

You need to wipe the dip stick clean and reinsert it for a couple of seconds. Then you will get the true reading. I just checked mine and got the same reading until I wiped and rechecked the level. Not sure why it rides so high on the stick when you first pull it out.

After my first service, I had some rough idli g issues, heard about dealers overfilling. Checked my dipstick, sure enough it was overfilled. I used a mighty vac to suck some out. Now all is well!

Need to stop staring at it all week when you get home from work and drive it more. This will burn off the excess oil. Drive it for the sake of the children of the world.

I'll do my share of polluting, for the sake of the children. BTW, I love this car. Soon enough, if I learn enough about it, I could probably build it from scratch. And undercut MB by 50%.

things with and without wheels
it will allow the rotating assembly to make contact with it, slowing the rotating assembly and robbing you of power
When the rotating assembly is making contact with the oil it causes it to foam up(puts air pockets in the oil ), when the oil is being pummped throughout the engine's vital parts it doesnt get pressurized properly(due to these air pockets), leading to metal to metal contact(wear).

According to my manual our engine oil capacity is 9 US qt or 8.5l. I just did an oil change and although I did not measure accuately I am sure I put at least 9l in (I buy oil in a 5 gal bucket and pour it in 1 gal plastic containers to pour more easily into the engine) and maybe a little more. I did change the oil cooler as well. My dip stick reads between the two red indicators and I am sure I could safely get another liter in there if I tried.

I just had a dealer service A and was charged for 2 sump washers, explained to me as due to the fact there are primary and secondary oil pans that both need to be drained. This plus the golden colour of the oil suggests to me that this MB dealer is not sucking the oil out via a vacuum pump.
No mention on the invoice of how much oil was used but I checked the dipstick the next day and the level was just under the uppper red marker.

Earlier this month, when I did my Service A on my C63, including draining the oil cooler.
I put in 9 qts, let the engine warm up to operating temp, then took a oil level reading.
I ending up putting an additional qaurt, now that's 10 qts to get the level in between the marks. I'm assuming since the oil cooler can hold about a quart, that the reason for the low initial reading. The same thing for my E63, when I changed the oil last month.
