If I'm not mistaken when the first pics of these fender setups were posted on this forum they displayed a car that had the wide fenders attached but not blended in with custom body work (molding, paint, etc.). The look reminded me a little of the Rauh Welt Porsches from Japan, which I happen to like a lot.

I was thinking it could be a cost effective approach for installing these aftermarket fenders.

Just a thought.

Personally I would be really interested in knowing exactly what work has to be done to get these fenders installed, painted and looking flush with the rest of the bodywork. Would appreciate if you could let me know.

Thanks

Just to give you guys an update. I received the kit today from HMS and the quality is good. However, they do NOT give us enough additional flare to add the size tires I want (at least 315 or possibly 335). It adds approximately 1" and that won't allow us to get the 11" rim required for at least a 315. My 285's are rubbing now under heavy cornering/racing so the additional 1" would allow me to lower the car and run maybe a 295 or 305 maximum.

I am not going to cut my fenders and do the body work for that little of a change. If thats all you want then this kit will probably work.

I made some prints and took pictures with the needed changes and e-mailed them back this afternoon. Hopefully they will make the necessary changes and we will move forward. It not, I will work on making some for us.

Will keep you updated.

+2...The C63 (and C63 community) wouldn't be what it is without Dad's. Great ring leader/instigator.

Regarding the update, now in hindsight, I probably should have mentioned this sooner, but I went looking for those Jade-R wheels (by Team Dynamics from the UK) found on the HMS car with the fender flares. They are apparently 19x10 in the rear, and actually look pretty flush in the pictures. Makes sense now given Dads post.

Good news guys!!
HMS is going to redesign their flares and offer a 50mm pair that will match the front fenders better and allow us to get some real meat on the rear. They will try to have something for us by the first of August. I can't wait!!

For those that have asked you will need to cut your stock fenders in order to make these function properly.

Is it going to be 50mm or roughly 2 inches on each side, or both fenders combined. If it's for one side only, there is your 13 inch wheel with 345's

Its two inches on each side!!
Will be able to get at least an 11 wide wheel and still get it under the fender.

Make sure to tell HMS to produce them without a lip like the CLK63 BS, otherwise you'll have to shave it off before painting. Even with the wider track on the Black Series, running 11 inch wheels with 305's is no problem. With 50mm on each side you shouldn't have a problem fitting 12 inch wheels with 325's.

Sounds promising, I would definitely get my hands on them if we were to get pictures of them installed on a car. Great Job Keith, you surely took our c63s to a whole new level, you are the man!

12.5x20 with 325's in the rear. Now that's some meat!!
Wheels look horrible but the wide body looks sick.
