Like I posted before mythbusters did an exhaustive test of this and also explain why top gear was able to beat the photo radar @ 170 MPH but why you need to exceed 200 MPH in the U.S to beat a photo radar.

Myth busters WAS able to beat the photo radar @ speeds exceeding 200 MPH but not below

P.S they used a rocket car to beat the photo radar

Yikes I know the penalties are some times less with photo cams so hopefully they just mail you an automated ticket. I got pulled over in speeds of excess of 100 twice and they didn't impound my car.

There IS a way to beat them at 25 MPH or any speed if you want. Without giving it all away - picture a plate cover that goes opaque when a signal is applied to it. Say that signal comes from a detector that also has a GPS database of redlight and speed camera locations are. When said signal goes away, plate is clear again..... hmmmm...

its been done

You have a guardian angel. Actually if you where just blasting down the freeway at 100mph and not driving stupid, the CHIP will just give you an ugly ticket. But they can impound your car if they really are pissed at you.

We don't have speed camera in Atlanta, but we have tons of red light. I am not in the habit of running red lights, but one in particular is well known as a revenue generator here. The intersection is very very wide (5 way), traffic is very very slow always - and once in a while something happens to cause you to still be slightly in the intersection (stopped or barely moving) when it goes red... BANG ticket. Everyone around here was sick of it, so I made an interface. WORKS GREAT!! Would work at any speed camera or anything else like that.

I have seen the tricplate but linking it to a GPS is just GENIUS, I always thought the tricplate wasn't going to be very effective as I have to hit a switch or button to activate it and if I am running a red light (not intentional and always last minute) I do not think I would have time to do that, again the GPS is just pure GENIUS

- Sure hope you didn't actually take the photo yourself. Never take your eyes off the road at high speed!

- How did you get a speed above 174 mph? Limiter removed?

- I noticed that it's only in D6 with some RPMs still to go before redline. Does that mean it can go even faster when redlined in 7th gear? Anyone know the top speed for this car?

- I agree with others that this speed can easily be fatal. I hope you didn't endanger the public doing this.

Yes I did as can be seen in the reflection on the dash, Was taken on a empty stretch of road in a tollway early sunday morning

Yes the limiter was removed by a tune

I think 6200 is about HP peak for this engine, I wonder if it can do any better in 7th

I think any speed beyond 50 MPH is fatal we all take risks when we go out of the house I did this by myself and put only myself at risk thanks for the concern

It is kind of one of those things that once you have, you can't live without. No more predatory tickets!! PLUS it affords privacy when parked, etc. The Tricplate is awesome, and when I added my little module - it is pure driving bliss.
We have a pretty good price on the Tricplate, or you can get one of them directly from them. I could even set up a group buy, for those interested. We make almost nothing on them, but would do it for the enthusiasts like us.

No, 7th is a highly overdriven gear that will not allow the car to hold speed against wind and road resistance. The speed in D6 is topped out for the car.

While I agree with all the above, it's those road side IEDs that are very annoying.

We could install a few systems in the trunk, put a Rhino on the front of the hood, some of the guys here know what I am talking about, and we might have a good chance of tearing through the country burning out peoples phones, radios, etc with IED impunity. Hezbollah did invent the explosive formed penetrators that could go through anything! in Iraq. Anyhow, I know a few guys over there in the army that could probably hook us up with sone badges. I still love the people, whatever religon, and my best friend is a lebanese, so you take the good with the bad. I guess when my government travel ban is lifted I am there!

Here you go,
Speed Enforcement

Red Light Cameras
http://mpdc.dc.gov/mpdc/cwp/view,a,1...av,|31885|.asp

DC does not try to hide the cameras, in fact they want you to slow down in the areas they have placed the permanent ones. There is of course the roving cars you need to be careful for, but they are usually easy to spot.

I suspect the VA State troopers would just shoot you the moment you stopped...

Worse if it was a FFX city or county officer... first they beat you, then taze you.. then shoot you... (ps.. I used to live in FFX.. the city cops along 236 between main street and picket were a pain...)

I suspected that might be the case. At least we now know that the car can do and handle about 195 mph. Makes me feel safer knowing that when I'm doing half that speed!
