the tricplate is $550.. and on top of that. very illegal. In fact, in most states, anything (even completely clear plastic) over the license plate is illegal. Although I am not sure if they are considered primary or secondary offenses (you cannot be pulled over for a secondary offense).

Also.. they do not work, as long as there is a hint or outline of an image that makes it through the plate cover(which based on the images I saw on the tricplate web site, it is not completely blacked out).

I'm not necessarily going to let the math/physics totally deter me from taking risks (with my own life), but best to know the risk before deciding. Then again, the risk itself is probably part of the "fun," as with other risky activities we voluntarily engage in. And the way we look at risk is often odd too, since being badly injured or disabled sometimes seems scarier than being killed.

Just in case you're not joking (I can't quite tell), the point is that the chance of dying in a crash is much higher at 195 mph versus 50 mph.

Absolutely amazing. Astonishing. Totally ground breaking. Thank you.

This is coming from someone who asked whether he should add oil when the car is telling them to add oil and how to tell if they have to add oil...

It was mentioned for those who don't understand the risks of speed. Even if you know the risk, that doesn't mean everyone does. We're talking about 195 mph. Sorry for trying to help people to avoid killing themselves or others.

And the car didn't say to add oil, it said to check the oil. I was in a bind, so I asked the group how urgently I needed to deal with that, and I quickly got the answer I needed. If that discussion didn't interest you, how about minding your own business? I feel sorry for people who have nothing better to do than rudely get involved in other people's conversations, and I'm disappointed by the lack of basic civility by a few members of this forum. Somebody mentioned something about having money not necessarily meaning having taste or knowledge. I guess it doesn't mean having manners either.

I bet if you look up crash statistics you'll find more people have died in accidents closer to 50mph then 190mph. Funny how statistics work.

Zephyr you are so funny.

Nothing funny about it.

Of course more people die in 50 mph accidents; it's because ~99.9999% of people never drive anywhere close to 190 mph!

The question is, in a crash, what percentage of people die at 50 mph versus 190 mph?

I'm not saying that no one should ever drive fast. Just understand the risks, especially the risks to others, and exercise reasonable caution. I don't want to read a message in this forum announcing that someone got overzealous and died crashing their C63. I moderate a forum for brain tumor patients/caregivers, and have already seen my share of suffering and death ...
