Well believe me that there were a lot of boold and sweat (mostly blood) behind my success. Since I am still single, I am just trying to be irresponsible and enjoy my fruit of labor a little more. If you keep working it, I am sure one day you will get there too.

Quote: Brakes at $8k is a deal. Porsche ceramic brakes are $28K with rotors.
Off topic: does Porsche require you to change your breaks and rotors together like Nissan does with the GT-R?

Not on the ceramic brakes. You change the pads without having to change the rotors. The pads last like normal brakes (i'm at 50% with 14K on the car). Most guys change them at about 80% as not to risk any rotor damage.

The rotor are supposed to last over 100K and I don't plan keeping it beyond 50K. I only put 3k a year on it, so I might be dead before I sell it.

Do it. I was about to do the same thing, my mate has an 09 and I've driven it a couple of times and it's never unimpressed me. We went in the hills together and it was great fun together (C63 vs GT-R) and his car could have defiantly gone harder if it was me driving. The only downside is the interior and lack of features, but they've made up for that in the 11/12 model.

However, I didn't end up buying a GT-R but instead bought a GTR. What does that mean? I mean an Ultima GTR, 700hp/980kg. I personally am only 24 and I wanted something WILD. I have no kids. My girlfriend still loves fast cars. I don't have massive overheads in my life. I don't get back pains driving in a "rough" car and have no issues it being a pain to get in and out. The C63 was just too mature for me now and I feel that is maybe what you are feeling too.

Honestly though, the reason I didn't get a GT-R over a GTR was I was chasing outright performance and handling more than anything (0-60 2.5s, 0-100 5.3s, 100-0 4.2s, 1:12 on top gear track) and they were priced similarly stock GT-R to stock GTR (GT-R in AUS = ~$130k for a 2nd hand one). The C63 is quick, sure, but I wanted "whoa **** me" fast. And that's what the Ultima will provide me. I was going to need a GT-R + P800 package to achieve similar performance. Even the GT-R was more wow than the C63. The merc is a great car, and I will own one again in the future, but its just not right now.

Bit of a ramble by me, but go the GT-R, you'll love it. Do it and don't look back.

Oh yeah I remember your post about the Ultima GTR, but did the first owner of the car build it himself, or was it pre-build? I bet you that not a lot of people you run into, even for car guys, will know what the heck it is other than it is "different" (me included). Great choice by the way. Also did you look into the Ariel Atom?

I am building it myself. The parts are being manufactured now, I am expecting them in 19 weeks or so. I have about 4-8 mates that are willing/wanting to help all with mechanical backgrounds (eg, worked on cars, engine transplants, manual conversions and general assembly/disassembly), so I am expecting it to be a very very fast process compared to others who do it solo and have no mechanical experience and it takes them ~300 man hours. I am estimating around 125 hours to build it plus time to get someone to do the interior for me. I have a strict policy of unlimited beer (but no drunkenness haha) and pizza which should keep the troops motivated. Included in my decision to buy was the rarity. There are between 10-20 in the country and on the road

Back on topic though, I am seeing my mate with the 35 tonight, going for a drive together

Do what you think is best Sheep. I'm sure you will be satisfied no matter what path you take. Both the C63 and GTR are great cars. I would be content in owning either one or both. Like many others have said, we are very grateful that circumstances favored our way. Enjoy in good health, my friend.

Why would you want to drive a supercar like the GTR in the snow?
BTW I drive my Clk55 all year round. RWD is not bad with proper tires in snow.

That was for 2009 GT-Rs. Nissan has since changed that part of the maintenance. Plus you could go aftermarket pads/rotors for less then half that.

Quote: Sheep.

$50,000 for a trade in is a lot, you should really consider it. As far is the GTR, all I am saying is do your home work and go to NAGTROC read all the reviews o the GTR one more time.

Brakes on the GTR cost $8000. A transmission on the GTR cost $23,400 and the transmission fluid cost $70 a quart (take 12). The 2012 is a much improved model (launch control, power, suspension, aerodynamic, rims, suspensi on) but pricy to maintain.

Think about all that....
This is BLATANT misinformation. Are you fn kidding me here? Brakes for $8k? LMFAO? You can buy transmission parts now. And fluid DOES NOT COST $70 a bottle. Wow.

Nissan does not require you to change the pads and rotors at the same time (at least my dealerships don't) and how could you even cross shop the two cars? One is a supercar killer, the other is a 4 door sedan that was a step BACKWARD from it's older big brothers (e55 amg).

I've owned a lot of very high performance cars, including a few s600's, 2 e55's, Porsche Turbo's, a few F-Cars.

The GT-R surpasses every single one of those cars in ever single way (perhaps not in the looks dept but that's subjective). Cross shop the c63 with the m3 and the GT-R with the Porsche Turbo S PDK.

In that case, i'd go M3 and GT-R.
