Removing trim pieces
Removing trim pieces
Ok, I am wanting to black the trim, but am deathly afraid of breaking it. Can someone school me on how to remove the window and door trim without tearing it (or the car) up?
And why can I not find any kind of Chilton's or Haynes repair guide for these damn things? I like to do alot of the work myself on my cars, but I also like to have a reference to look at.

Stangxs.... I think I'm gonna leave the emblems Chrome for now. I think it will be a nice contrast. But depending on how the trim view, I might smoke the tail lights next.

I did this. It's not hard. But use some hard plastic interior tools. SIR tools or Harbor Freight sells them. Do not use any metal tools. The video is good but you once you remove the mirrors you can actually do the lower window trim on the car by cutting some wrap about an inch longer than the trim and wiggling the wrap under the trim at the bottom and then using a thin credit card to push the wrap under the rubber window trim at the top and crease it. Then carefully cut it with an exacto knife. The plastic end clips usually break when you try to take them off, so I left them on and also used a credit card to push the wrap in and cut the trim. Take the top trim off. It's too long to try and wrap on the car. Wrapping the grill is a major PIA. I'd take the grill off and have a pro wrap it. However taking the grill off is easy. Look at the top there is plastic plate in the top center of the grill. Two plastic pop rivets hold it to the front of the grill and one plastic hold-down to the center of the air intake assembly. Give the single center hold-down a quarter to half turn and it will pull up. The center of the grill will be free. On each side of the top of the grill you'll see round tabs inserted into a round channel. Push backwards on each corner. You'll see the channel that allows the round tabs to be pushed back. The bottom of the grill is held to the bumper cover with plastic tabs. Use the a straight wedge interior tool between the bottom of the the grill and top of the bumper cover to push the grill back. The tabs will just pop free. Then the grill will push upwards at the round tabs on top and come free. The smaller center chrome strips of the grill (2 on each side can be taken off by just pushing them outward and they will come loose. The star and rest of the outer chrome has plastic tabs through the grill but these have been melted in place. I have not done the rear emblems yet. Still looking for a source that sells them already black. I used this wrap

It's more expensive but easy to work with and very tuff.
