Ticking sound

Hi I got my ECU for 3 days ago I installed it whitout a problem.
Yesterday I got my car from the shop they installed Cargraphic headers to the stock midpipes.
The car runs so strong and the sound is sick.
But I started to get a ticking sound yesterday.
It dosent matter if the enginge is cold or warm.
It doesnt incrase when I press the gas pedal so the frequency is the same all the time.
The strange thing is that I can hear it best from the cabin if I open the hood I cant hear anything only from the cabin and If I stand next to the car. Sometimes the sound dissapears.
I think its from the headers. It is not loud at all it must be really quiet so you can hear the sound. Also if I press the gas pedal a litle bit and let go when the RPM goes down the sound dissapears and after a few seconds it comes back. Will se if I can record it tomrow.
What do you guys think?
The car is from july 2009 and only has 15 000km.

I had the same thing with no mods, I checked the oil and it was low. When I topped it off the sound was gone.

I checked the oil level it shows OK. I did a B-service for 1 month ago they filled up 8,5 liter mobil 1. But maybe I have to refil litle? Strange thing is I cant hear the sound if I open the hood.

Engine takes about 9l, oil cooler about 1l. My car was serviced with 10l, and oil is at top red notch. No frothing, runs fine. I've heard it tick for very short periods of time, in the 5seconds range. Everyone says it's normal. I was also wondering, would the dash light up anything if you have too little or too much oil?

Yes, have you not read your owners manual. The display will light up, to tell you to check oil level at next refueling.

Did you check via the dash or the dipstick under the hood? I used the dipstick, and it was close to the bottom of acceptable. Topped it off and sound was gone.

Also my sound was hard to hear, it was noticible in the cabin under light acceleration and only when applying throttle.

hi via the dipstick. Mine is under idle and when I drive very slow.

Do you guys think I should fill up whit 0,5 liter?
I saw when the tech changed my oil he drained the oil and the oil from the oil cooler.

My dealer has a walkway are in the service bay that is open to customer. You may stand pretty much next to your car if you like.

Bingo. A common problem with headers that freaks people out cuz they think it's a value train issue.

You would have to have low oil pressure to get ticking from a sticky hydraulic lifter and the frequency would vary with RPM.

Im really glad somebody has mentioned this. My car has been making a ticking sound as well and I had no idea why it was/what it could be. Should I take her into the dealership, is it something serious? Im just worried and care about my car....

The aluminum parts tick as they expand and contract from heat. Probably nothing. If you can't hear well enough to isolate it, you can get a mechanics stethoscope at Pep boys to help narrow it down.
