They need at least $10,000 in options to make the car, because without them the car has less standard features than a Chevy Malibu.

 

Wish I lived in the states, those prices are 1/3 of what we get charged in Australia!

 

This is ridiculous right? This is would get you a C300 in my counry. C63 costs twice as much.. But you know, I am glad its like that...if the c63 amg was so cheap as in the U.S, they would be probably rollin all around the city.

Actually the '12 gets two very nice standard options - the Harman/Kardon stereo and bluetooth audio. To me, this by itself can justify the small price increase.

 

Actually, it would be a fun thought experiment to think through which options are actually necessary to make the car worth it -- putting aside resale concerns. Leather, xenons, etc. are nice but I'll bet most enthusiasts wouldn't miss them. Another way to put it -- if you could only have one option, (excluding the expensive performance pack), which would it be? I'd probably pick the LSD.

 

No leather kills resale as does no nav.

Anyone know when the Multimedia Package will be released?

I think i will most likely go with the Command Package (S32) and rear view camera (218) which would be the same minus the 6 CD changer (and cheaper). Or am I missing something?

I've not been able to get a straight answer about when the Multimedia Package will be available. Single disc VS 6 disc isn't a big deal to me and I doubt it will affect resale value.

 

What I wouldn't do for a red interior...!!!!!

 

I have a 2012 coming without any designo package. I sat in a 2012 not too long ago that also did not have any designo package and I couldn't see any way to move the entire bottom seat forward. The position the drivers seat was in when I first sat in it was a bit far from the pedals as I usually like. Is this the standard 6-way type? Is there a way to manually move the seat forward, or am I just hitting the wrong buttons? Granted I only had about 30 seconds to try the buttons or to look for a lever and the car was off.

 

Seat controls are on the door panel above the armrest and to the front. Looks like a seat. Push the seat bottom forward or back to move the seat in a similar fashion.

 

I didn't recall seeing the buttons on the door, there we're buttons on the bottom left of the seat but none that moved it forward. No matter, I guess I'll just find out soon when it's delivered.

 

I think maybe I misled you. My seating package and controls are likely different than yours. In Canada the 10 way power adjustable front seats are standard equipment and I am not familiar with the seat control in your option. In our R-Class the controls were on the seat bottom and again there was a flat bar shaped control that you pushed back or forward to move the seat or up or down to raise or lower the seat. Not sure if you will find that helpful or not.

 

To move the seat forward/backward ... there is a lever at the bottom right of the seat (manual movement). Kind of odd, but I was told the "bucket race seats" are manual when it comes to foward and backward movements. All other settings are motorized.
