What Engine Oil?
Same thing I'm currently running. Heard of some people running Mobil 1 0-20w as recommended in the SLS. Was wondering if anyone was running anything besides the 0-40w European blend?

There are other manufacturers oils you could run, as long as it meets Mercedes Spec.
Castrol comes to mind. I personally stick with Mobil 1

Some guys are running MOTUL 8100 5W-40. Oils that are Mercedes 229.5 approved are ok to run in the C63.
I say stick with Mobil 1.
I am on my last fill of ESP 5W-40...the dealer is now using 0W-40 which makes more sense and I am happy about that. Hopefully I'm going to strike a deal with my SA so I can begin using this oil though:

Another oil question...lol! This subject has been discussed on about every motor powered vehicle forum.
Here is what I know without getting into the MSDS sheets to determine "Group". The important items to look for are Viscosity Index and flash point. Pour point is also important but since I live in California its not that critical.
SLS(229.5) calls for;
Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5/50... / VI-153/ Flash Point -236/ Ash1.2
Other MB's
Mobil 1- 0/40.... VI-185 / Flash Point -230/ Ash1.3
Mobil 1- 15/50.... VI-160 / Flash Point -232/ Ash1.21
In a nutshell....The higher Flash Point is important to reduce burn off while Viscosity Index is indicative of viscosity change with temperature. Obviously the higher the better. These are the numbers I look for.......so currently I have switched to Mobil1 15/50 simply for the slightly higher weight and flash point. However the 0/40 has the highest VI.

Alright thanks
But I don't understand, when I check on their website, they're saying that 5w-40 is for diesel trucks: http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...uck_5W-40.aspx
I didn't keep the empty bottles of the oil but I'm pretty sure it was 5W-40.. and it was a green bottle
