Dealer visit, brake flush necessary?
My 09 C63 titled on 12/2009 went in for oil service today at 16.5Kmls.
Will do the MIP upgrade as well and the service adviser told me that a brake flush is recommended every 2 years with the heat and humidity in Houston, price around $ 200.00
Is this necessary? I dont do track and brakes feel very good actually.
He also suggested to change the airco filter priced at $ 225.00
I thought that this was rather pricey.
Any commends on this would really appreciated.
BTW the car definitely has an old car smell inside , in fact it stinks like hell so told them to go ahead and do it.

It is a REQUIRED maintenence item by Mercedes Benz every 2 years or 20 k miles, but that price is very high. I work in an expensive area and we charge $155 for that flush.

Not sure about the Aircon, but you can do the brakes easily yourself, search amazon for a pressure bleeder (mine cost around $50). It is actually one of the easier (although if you don't have a lift, labour intensive) jobs you can do yourself.

An indy shop will perform the brake flush for a lot cheaper than what the dealership is charging you. Your cabin stinks because you need a new cabin filter. Those can be purchased online and you can do it yourself. They are relatively inexpensive and they are definitely not $225.

I have you all beat, brake flush at Benz Elite Automotive in Alexandria VA for $83.00 including tax. And everyone is right about the brake flush, brake fluid is hydroscopic meaning it absorbs moisture, just like oil and water don't mix, neither does brake fluid, so water will travel to the lowest point meaning the pistons on the calipers, and will start to rust the piston. Thereby causing braking problems. And be careful with brake fluid, as it will instantly take off the finish of your paint, it only takes one drop, and your paint is ruined. But as far the cabin filter goes, there cheap and you can do it yourself. Paying the dealer $200 for a $22 filter is crazy, pay me $200 and I will do it for you
It's a pain, because it's in a difficult position, trust me I know first hand. I even created a thread about it.
