2012 Magnetite Sedan Has Entered the Building
Officially adopted my new 2012 C63 Sedan today. To be blunt, when I left to pick it up, I was bracing myself for a little disappointment. I was nervous about the color. My preference, Steel Gray, was no longer available, so I compromised with Magnetite Black. I also held my breath and hoped that Mercedes' dynamica seats would be comparable to Alcantara, and that I wasn't foolish for forgoing the leather option.
Total non issues. To anyone who is worried, the Magnetite is fantastic in person. In fact it is so good, even if I could choose Steel Gray, I might now prefer Magnetite. I was worried it would look like a faded black. It doesn't. It's a striking dark gray that takes on different characterists in different light. They really should call it Magnetite Gray. Anyway, it's still not the handsomest car out there (though I'm coming from a 911 which is almost perfect looking to me) but it certainly looks purposeful. Here's a shot (hopefully this works):
Also the Dynamic interior is wonderful -- several degrees better than the old cloth. Totally superior to leather imho; more practical, more comfortable, and your interior doesn't smell like a tannery. Those who swear by leather of course are entitled to their opinion. Get what you like.
As for the drive, I can only echo what everyone else has said. Magnificent. Effortless surges of power. Beautiful engine note. I skipped the performance package, and frankly, I don't miss it in the least.
A couple of extra shots. The dealership had a edition one sedan in the showroom. Here is a quick shot.
Finally, out with the old, in with the new. Best of luck to everyone else picking up new C63s soon, coupe or sedan. And even for those just perusing, I hope you enjoy the pics.

Yes. I fudged around a little with the manual mode, which was fun, but spent most of my time in full auto. I did not spend enough time in the old C63 to compare the new tranny to the old.
Btw, only thing I don't like: the turn signal stalk. It sits at an oddly low angle, and it is tricky to notch it up or down without taking your hand off the wheel. I know it was the same in the prior iteration. Just weird.

All this is throwing me for a loop...I keep seeing new facelift cars with '08-11 seats....I thought they changed the seats?? Did just throw old seats in because they had a boat load sitting around?? I'm confused...

As others have said, only the coupes gets the new seats. The sedans keep the same seats as before. The only difference is that you can now get those seats with the Dynamica fabric (as I did). In the 08-11 versions, you could only get leather or cloth -- at least in the U.S. -- and cloth orders were almost non-existent.

Woohoo, lets
I often hit the wiper's mist function with my knee when the left turn signal is activated. In the beginning, I kept activating cruise control by mistake. It's an MB thing, you'll get used to it of course. But hey, if that is your complaint, you are doing pretty good.
