Charcoal filter delete. NOT SO HAPPY

Vadim did a dyno a few years back that showed a slight increase from removing the charcoals and that is why we do it. As for your butt feeling it.....doubt it.

I just got my ecu back from Kleemann so I figured I'd change out the K&N's for AFE's and took out the charcoal. Now I've got a check engine light after about hour or two of driving. Got in it a couple times. Light came on coming back home. Does the ecu just need to get used to the new set up or do I have a problem?

Make sure your box tops are fastened down properly and your filters fitted correctly. The big thing to check is for air leaks downstream from the MAFs so make sure that the rubber Y fittings are properly fitted to the box tops (no buckles or folds) and clamped snugly with no air leaks/gaps.

I have tried removing my Carbon filters three times. Every time after a few hours of driving I get a CEL. I now run K&Ns with the carbon. I think some cars/ years are more prone to have the CEL when you remove them.

Hi Guys,
There isn't a year cut off where some cars get CEL for charcoal delete and some don't, but there is a variation in different software versions that make some cars prone to triggering a CEL while others can make many intake changes and never see a CEL. It seems Mercedes purposefully lowered a parameter that will trigger a CEL if charcoals are removed to desuade intake modifications.
Our tune adresses this problem for those of you experiencing this. Obviously with a supercharger strapped to a car we ran into this problem early in our development stages so it was easy to apply the fix to NA cars with charcoals removed as well.
This is just one of the many proprietary things we've discovered on the ME9.7 ECU to enhance customer satisfaction.

Yes. I drove it for couple days. Kept coming on and turned them off with scanner. I wanted to punch the dashboard. BTW I made mends with Bruce. Saw him at Mexico. I need a updated tune.

Good to hear you fixed your relationship with Bruce. He is really not a hard guy to get along with.
I was thinking on heading down this Sunday. Ill look for you. We need better MB turn out.

I have an 09 P30 and I just removed my carbon filters this weekend. Within 2 days (about 100 miles and 3 or 4 starts) of driving I got a CEL.
Not too concerned because I am getting a tune this weekend which will get rid of the CEL!

I bought a set of CF air boxes for my car, I had them installed for about 2 weeks before I noticed that the stock air boxes I had was actually ROW models. I guess they came with the brabus kit. Which in interesting as its not mentioned in the kit. Luckily i sold it for exactly what I payed for them, thank g** as i (and my gtech ) could not feel a difference between them and ROW ones. After following up with someone from brabus they mentioned that the ROW's should be good for (2hp / almost a rounding error on a standard dyno) but +-10hp at 100mph on the road
