I definitely don't want an aggressive tune in my car if the minimum timing has been raised. I also didn't have to pay the $10K Jeremy wanted but instead paid only $1650 for both a 91 octane map or a 100 octane map with the flip of a switch. Both are programmed with maximum safeguards against detonation.
Did I read that right? $10,000 for a tune????....or even for two tunes???? Please explain in greater detail what exactly you were quoted $10,000 for. Did that include a Motec stand alone?

I hope headers and mid-pipes were included in that price and 10K still sounds pricey even if the exhaust was included.

Headers + midpipes + tune + install as a package deal shouldnt exceed $7-8K...I'd be interested to know what was quoted for the $10K myself.

Jim, I believe he got that $10,000 quote from Evosport/Powerchip at the time (2+ years ago)... but I think they didn't want to touch his car because he switched shops/tuners too many times, which meant multiple hands had already messed with the engine and all would play the blame game.

$10k was for tuning only! But it is a very long story and there are multiple sides to it. You may want to search the W211 section for the threads (it was about 2 years ago).

Reminds me of a time when I had a contractor come to my house and quote my 75K more than any other contractor did. The way I looked at it was he didnt want the job and quoted me so high that I wouldnt hire him and if I did it was worth his while.

Either way... can this thread go in any other directions???

How about we stick to what its about. Is the OP going to finish what he started and chime in? Are we going to get any other side to this story or is this thread done?

I'll try to decode this.

The VIN was in the screenshots posted in the OP (and this was sort of a Eureka moment for him given the exclamation points).

The race file required VP race fuel and it was only meant for like 1 mile races and it would be marketed in the Middle East where guys that have fast cars can drive reallly fast.

Somehow this file made it's way to the U.S. market.

I tried.

Except the VIN he typed out was not the VIN in the screenshot....

I think what hes saying is the file posted was from a different VIN number and that VIN number was in the middle east and somehow made it to the US. LOL.

Anyone else wanna give it a shot??? hahah...
