Long Drive To Houston

I just made my 2150 mile commute from canada down to Houston for the year and ran the car pretty hard, prob averaged about 90 and at times had the cruie set at like 105. It seemed to handle it well and had no issues on the trip down, and when we got here I disconnected my battery and then broke in my new mhp tune, which was bout 200 miles.

I am wondering if I should change my oil out as a precaution with seeming how this motor may have premature wear already, and would like some advice on whether i can just take it to a local jiffy lube or something like that and get them to do it, or if i should go through the stealership and pay through the nose. is there anything special about changing oil on this car other than swapping oil and changing filters??

i know some of the places around here in El Paso , Tx can do the oil change but they don't stock the oem filter . i buy the filter seperately and then have them do it . cheaper than the stealer

haha thanks guys i agree, it is very hot here, i just got it done, in all it cost about 116 bucks to get the oil change with filter, does that sound about right for a synthetic oil change?

i went to local spot and put in mobil 1 0w 40, they were trying to fool around with resetting the services, i asked them not too as i thought there would be more to a service than just an oil change, it now says 6400 miles till service BO, and i had an A service done about a month and a half ago, would that make sense, what all is involved in an a service vs a b service?

Saw a thread recently that says you should be using 5w 40. Manual says 0w 40 but if you go to the dealer for an oil change they use 5w 40 now. I think the comment was in the thread about the recent MB lawsuit.

First, the lowest impact on the oil is the type of driving you were doing.

As for the 5W-40 vs the 0W-40, both are approved. I think AMG prefers the 5W for potential reduced degradation of the catalytic converters due to reduced ash content. However, that is part of the formula that reduces wear,

With 80K on mine, I am sticking to the 0W-40.

And yes, the oil change is easy.

Read your manual about A, B, C, D,... service. This simply indicates the number of hours the work might take. "A" is almost always an oil change, and "B" adds in a air filter change. Of course there is the whole inspection they charge you for as well.
