matte vinyling the car

hey guys, i think i'm going to be giving a go at doing the matte vinyl job on my car on my own.. what do you guys think? if i can i would prefer sticking with 3M because using their di-noc is truly an amazing product to work with and someone with very little experience can pull of the professional look, below is the colors that i can use, i would like to dos satin black being that amg's offer satin not matte, but oracal although it has good reviews from people i have never worked with their vinyl and i don't want to be spending half a grand on stuff that won't be as workable as something i know to work with very well. this pushes me into either going for black, white, or dark grey, what do you guys think?

Black is getting kinda old imo. Grey or white would be cool though I'm considering vinyling mine as well

Do it in the 3M 1080 material. A roll of this stuff is not cheap.

I do this for a living =O)

I'm going to be doing mine in 3M 1080 matte grey.

Although when looking at Jeffield's car it doesn't look old at all. Whichever you choose will probably look beautiful

This has been running through my mindevery now and then. How does this stand up to rockchips? To repair I'm assuming they have to redo that entire panel?

This stuff is very resistant to rock chips. It's not as good as 3M PPF... but it's pretty tough!

Just one quick point - if you have a 3M certified installer do the work, 3M will warranty the vinyl for 6 or 7 years. And I'd vote something not black.

If you want to change your car colour I'd say get they grey vinyl. I really like the satin black Magno that MB does but don't think most black vinyls looks as nice.

If you like the color of your car now you can buy the Satin Guard paint protective film and put a matte finish on your existing paint.

A friend of mine wrapped his M3 with this silver/beige wrap. I love the look.

i know it's cheap it of course is 3m as well, but i would just be buying the roll to do on my own, the roll costs 1.2k i believe, and i only need about half of it to cover my car, love olsowa's finish, looks fabulous!

Those are 3 different cars on the pics and none of them is mine

If you are planning to wrap the car yourself then you should know it's a pain in the *** to do.

oh yea, but of course! but i believe i have enough skills to do majority of the car, and when i get stuck, i can head over to my good friend who does tinting and vinyling for a living and have him finish me off the hard contours for a few bucks giving me a total that still stands much less than the shop doing the whole install, sticker city sells a rolls enough for a car, for 600 bucks, btw jeffield, is yours a gunmetal matte? i love the color, it doesnt seem like it's fully black

sorry, i knew you owned the estate but they all have the same wheels and i thought the middle one was just sitting in the shade, and by the 3rd one he had done his calipers haha, i assumed it may have been a friend of yours, nonetheless looks very clean!

I really like the idea of SatinGuard instead

This way you keep your colour and just add an awesome satin sheen to it

Anyone in the Toronto area installing it?

I wrapped both of my cars with the Oracle970 in matte black. I found it had more of a satin look than the 3M. It doesn't take much skill but it is very time consuming. Prep of the entire car surface and the bumpers were the only tedious parts.

Matte pearl white or Reventon grey would look pretty sick!

I really like the wrap on the E92 M3.
Perfect stance and wheel offsets too.
